Very common response from what you are saying the view is. Which is correct

From collectors and internet sites

Still am reading about him being second tier or needs another mvp to be a hof lock

It’s hilarious

If someone said

If Tatis acuna Vlad Soto wander etc. in there 20s they will be 2 time mvp and 7 time all star would that be what you want as a collector or fan ?

Good chance none of them do what Harper does in 20s

This year is no different

Clunky start. But leading league in runs and close to top 10-11 in rbi

Stay healthy Bryce

Few have 2 MVP’s, I think only 10 have 3+.
No way for him to live up to the expectations placed on him at the start of his career.
I am a fan and invested in him, full disclosure.

I became a big Harper fan once he signed with the Phillies as I'm a big Phillies fan.

Watching the Phillies on TBS growing up, the current squad feels a lot like the Kruk, Lenny - Daulton era.

It has a lot to do with Trout taking all the lime light. Harper not hitting .330 with 50 bombs every year like he was hyped to do when he came up.

The biggest knock on Harper now is that he's not Trout.

Newsflash he doesn't have to be. He's having a hell of a career and i think people are starting to take notice after his second MVP and if he has a big year this year then watch out with his prices.

I think he's going to be compiling numbers for a long time barring injuries and that + all his current credentials will be enough to get him into Cooperstown without even needing another MVP.

No hate from me as I'm a fan. I agree in your thinking of 'what will it take' as well. I have no doubts of his long term potential so long as he remains healthy. In an era where people follow all that glitters and is new, he's basically a has-been, despite him still playing at MVP levels. He's no longer 20 or Ohtani, so isn't getting the recognition he deserves, both from MLB and the hobby.

HR #4 He's cooled off quite a bit. He's also not taking his walks like usual. I think he's being extra aggressive now that he's getting more pitches to hit now that he's got lineup protection.

Yea, jumping on the Trout pricing vs Harper debate as well. Leaving the Nats likely caused many Nats/Harper fans to sell who are not Philly/Harper fans. Prices can't be driven up if a whole slew of liquidity is shifted to a new set of holders.

If Trout left Anaheim, I would highly consider selling some of my pc. The main reason I loved Trout was he was drafted by MY team and I get to see him play with my own two eyes in my own backyard. If he left for Chicago let's say, I would lose that capability, thus less inclined to collect him if I can't watch him.

I also believe if he left or was traded, prices would decline due to the reasons above (long term Angel fans cashing out to new team fan).

I don't know. I'm a huge Angels fan. I don't care about the Nationals or Phillies, but i tend to watch every Phillies game right now at least when Harper is up just because i'm a fan of his. I could not care less about the team he's on but i just love the way Bryce plays the game.

I agree with you that a lot of fans are only going to watch their own teams and get favorite players from their team. But there's plenty of fans who just lean towards certain players even if they're on other teams.

I agree. I am a Yankee fan but follow other players because I like the way they play the game and could care less about the team they play on, with that being said if they move around too much it gets annoying a little. Currently I collect the players I follow regardless of team Harper is one of them, along with Trout, Machado and Soto.

MLB and the Hobby are huge entities without emotion - like a machine. The recognition for any Player is correct / “is what it is” within the machine.
( in English - Harper is getting the correct recognition once you remove the “that’s my guy” personal element, and switch to an objective view from 10,000 feet above )

3-4 - 3 Singles - 1 Stolen Base - 1 Walk

AVG up to .259 He's showing some signs of life.

Happy to see him get a walk. He's way behind his normal pace with those.

Don’t need a UCL to hit dingers (7)

Might be the Phillies all time solo HR leader by the time his career is done
