Hall of fame tomorrow? No.

He’s got the padres curse to deal with.

Still a very speculative player to invest in at today’s prices.

And the injury bug can hit at any time - it has been true his entire career.

Sell while you still can.
Well before I get into what you’re discounting on him let’s start with your thesis.. 280 with 25Hrs over a reasonable career into his mid 30s would put him over 300 career homers which would be good for 4th all time for SS behind 2 roiders and Cal and Ernie. And considering he’s had a 40HR pace at 22 I gotta think he’s gonna hit more than 25 a year for a while.

On Injury bugs, the lower back thing was a shut down due to a non competitive season, and the shoulders been a known issue that has a permanent fix with a proven success rate.

Here’s a few more things to “speculate” on:

- Fastest padre in history to 100 hits
- most HRs as a SS in history before turning 21
- in his 156 MLB games his stat line is 294avg, 25 2Bs, 43HRs, 104RBI, 29SBs at age 22.
- His power is almost unheard of at SS. There’s 4 SS in baseball history to have over 300HRs (Arod, Banks, Ripken, Tedeja and 2 of them were roided)
- Intangibly he has the flair and personality that the game has been missing since Griffey. No knock on others but Trout is a quiet personal guy, Mookie is already in his prime, Soto is intense and doesn’t have the defensive flair, And I’m not sure why Acuna hasn’t clicked as much nationally as being that likable super star despite having an extra 1.5 years in the league.

There’s absolutely no doubt his stuff is being pumped up and the hype is at Max, but let’s not act like the goods aren’t there because he got off to slow start for 50PAs playing hurt. It’s completely fine to say you missed the boat and won’t risk getting in now, but there’s nothing saying he won’t continue to be a star.

There’s baseball good, then there’s baseball card good.

Tatis collectors won’t be sad when his prices go Machado or Correa.

Investors paying his hyped prices will regret it.

I've been investing heavily in both Correa and Machado for a few years, I hope their prices stay depressed for another year or so before the hobby looks up and is surprised Machado has 50 WAR by 30 and Correa has 40 WAR by 30.

Tatis deserves the love, there aren't many power/speed combos like Tatis in the game, much less at SS. Tatis & Acuna are the only real threats to 40/40 right now... Trout could be but he's decided not to steal the last few years.

I think the difference here is Tatis is loved. Machado got the bad boy rep and played in small markets a lot. Correa is in the Houston crap.

Tatis is in California, he’s well liked, and the sport has already pushed him to be a face of baseball. I’m not saying he’s there yet but like Griffey, if he’s pop culture he can hold absurd prices.

But on the record I’m still a low pop, parallel, color collector over stacks of base PSA10s I do think a base chrome 10 at 300-400 isn’t gonna be as good as refractors longer term

But for now I’m just enjoying the show, buying cool cards including relic cards and holding my refractors

This is a laughably bad take.

I've got a ton of Tatis, and I'll do really well because I got in early. I'm going to be selling everything for 1 reason - once he got hurt I told myself to sell at the first opportunity once he's back. Surgery seems unavoidable (likely during off-season), and he could easily hurt himself sliding or playing defense.

I'm not wanting anymore risk with his stuff, so I'm cashing out.

All this said, your post is a yuge LOL. Padres curse? There is no curse for crying out loud. .280 and 25 hrs a year? Lol, maybe at year 34? Good grief.
