I had some similar swings and misses with 2017 and 2018 Optic. Select too. Upon second review the 8's had some janky backs. Kind of thing a quick inspection didn't reveal. Was already spending my Tatum Optic PSA 10 RC money too.

18-19 optic is one of the hardest sets to get 10s on. Centering and surface imperfections both front and back seem to be what holds most of them back.

I just sent in about 300 optics and am expecting only 70-85 of them to come back 10s

I’ve had very good success with base Optic. Guess I was lucky. Anything non-base is a terrible gem rate with PSA.

Holy smokes that's amazing! I absolutely love the Optic base RC; clean & simple. PSA has been tough since the COVID boom.

Remember, these were $6 to $10 cards not that long ago. I had about 100 raw Luka that I paid on average $8 per card. I sent them all in to PSA and received 16 gems and then the rest were 9's with the exception of 2 PSA 8's.

If you get in early enough you don't need to own an island, but you can buy one afterwards

Bought Optic base on COMC, 11/1/2019 at $6.55 per give or take a few pennies. Shock was $11. Same order I paid more for a 2015 Mike Trout Prizm Silver. Man, that was a great order. A stack of Mosaic Brandon Ingram RCs all less than $2 ea.

Amen. Sold 3 Optic Base PSA 10’s for $350-400, and 8 PSA 9’s for about $100 each several months ago. Kept one Optic Base PSA 10 for my PC at least. The real tragedy is I sold 2 of my 3 Blue Velocity PSA 10’s for around the $400 mark as well. Woof.

The blue velocity hurt. Blue is the Luka Gold, especially non-autos

Yeah it's a little rough to look at the sold tab in ebay but hopefully it's way better to look at the purchases tab.

I was recently hunting through my purchases from last summer (not looking for anything Luka related) and found...

Optic Holo x2 = $50 a piece
Select Premier Silver x2 = $25 a piece
Select Concource Silver = $45
Blue Crusade = $31
Blue Chrome Chronicles = $40
Optic Orange = $42

And a whole bunch of Trae silver/holos/chronicles reds for $10-$15.

Really makes up for me stupidly selling an Optic Purple Auto for $350 and a Court Kings Fresh Paint for $250 last summer to buy an Optic Holo auto. SHOULDA KEPT THEM ALL

Bought 10 2nd year prizm silvers for $60 each back in April that are now at PSA. I checked a few days ago they were now selling for around $275 PSA 9 and $750 PSA 10. Not holding my breathe for any 10s coming back though.

There was a point a couple months ago where I was buying every single one off of Ebay. Probably picked up 25 copies. These ones are pretty perfect. This just seemed so obvious, Luka is a future HOF'er.

Late to the party people have been or are being priced out of the Luke RC market so they are buying up the 2nd year and grading. Good idea.

Why wouldn't you do both if you believe in Luka? I was buying select silver's of his for $25 last year but no reason to miss out on the 2nd year train. If he's an HOFer 2nd yr stuff will retain value.

Oh I agree, but not everyone can do both. I wanted some specific 2nd year cards and I pulled both of them, Holo and silver. Have a couple of revolutions also.
