Aaron Judge is one of only 4 players to strikeout 200 times in a season while walking at least 100 times. He is the only player in history to strikeout 200 times in a season and still post a .400 OBP (.422) in 2017.

Okay, another stat I came across pertaining to players and walks...

Ichiro Suzuki played in 2653 games across 19 seasons. He reached base via a walk a grand total of 647 times.

Juan Soto has more career walks (749) playing in 1/3 as many games (908).

He was traded to the Red Sox before the trade deadline.

The game will resume on 8/26.

If he plays in the game at all, he will be the first player in MLB history to play for both teams in the same game.
He did it!

Of over 20,000 players that have played professional baseball dating back to 1876, only six, now that Ohtani has done it, have managed to hit 40 homers and steal 40 bases in a single season. That's how rare it is.

For anyone:
Which has happened more times, a 40 homer season or a 40 steal season?

365 40-homer seasons:
https://www.baseball-reference.com/l...R_season.shtml
(#366 place is 39 HR)

50-steal seasons -- there have been 494...so over 500 40-steal seasons.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/l...B_season.shtml
(#495 is 49 steals)

In 1971 Ralph Garr had 29 hits in I believe 75 at bats. Garr owns the most consecutive hits without a RBI in MLB history.

Mariano Rivera owned many opposing hitters but none more so than Ray Durham. Durham in 26 at bats was hitless vs Rivera. I’m not sure what the record is for a position player to go hitless vs a pitcher but this has to be up there.

Default Random unbelievable baseball facts, trivia, and/or oddities

danny jansen allowed a steal while catching against his own pinch hitter last week.

game was suspended earlier in the season with him at the plate. since then, he got traded from toronto to boston. first time a player has played for both teams in the same game.

saw that and thought of this thread.

I was curious about the average pace of the 33, 3000 Hit club players by age and how active players compared. Of the top 100 active with most hits, only 3 are ahead of pace and 3 are within 10% of the pace. Granted a month still left in the season.

Mike Marshall appeared in 106 games in 1974. Of those 106 games, he finished 83 of those games, yet only recorded 21 saves going 15-12. The Dodgers finished 102-60 that season.

Vince Coleman owns the record for the most consecutive stolen bases without being thrown out with 50. Ichiro is second with 45. With the new rules making it much easier to steal it’s only a matter of time before this record is broken.

Today, Giants Heliot Ramos became the first right handed batter in the 25 years of Oracle Park, to ever hit a home run in McCovey Cove.

Bobby Witt Jr. is the first player to have at least 10 triples, 30 stolen bases, 30 HR, and 40 doubles in a season.

He’s also the first player in history with 20/20 in each of his first 3 seasons.

He’s also the first Shortstop to have two 30/30 seasons and he did it back to back.

In yesterday's Astros/Padres game, Kaleb Ort came into the game in relief, faced the minimum three batters, and gave up back to back to back home runs without recording an out.

Joe Cowley is the first pitcher to never win another game after tossing a no-hitter in 1986. He was winless the remaining part of 1986, and was released in 1987 after 4 winless outings.

Going back to Game 5 of the 1985 World Series, the Kansas City Royals have gone 27-9 in their last 36 postseason games.

The Royals have not had a 27-9 stretch during the regular season at any point since 1985.

The payroll for the New York Yankees this season for their 26-man active roster is $260,231,924.

That’s almost $100 million more than all three of the AL Central teams currently in the ALDS combined.

Jarren Duran is the first player since 1901 to record 40 doubles, 10 triples, 20 homers, and 30 stolen bases in a season.

Mookie Betts going 0-2 in the first playoff game in 2024 is now hitless in his last 17 Post Season at bats. Mookie being Mookie.

Will he reach 20 after a first inning out ? 0-18.
