That's exactly what she did

She lost her authenticity trying to please those who will never be satisfied

No amount of pandering/virtue-signaling will buy you a seat at a table where you're not wanted

So when someone expresses an opinion that differs from what you want or expect, somehow they've been "captured". Literally said she worked for her accomplishments. But something else ruffled your feathers. Like the truth that someone else...built it

I'm glad she said it though because she recognizes she was being mis-used, like the word woke, by a dangerous element in society. An element society and especially sports could do without

Man, she folded for sure.

You hate to see it.

Fortunately sports world still has Sho and Patty

She earned everything, but she has benefited from white privilege. Always ignore everything before the but.

How can she have earned everything but also benefited from privilege? That's like someone saying they accomplished everything on their own but also they had help doing it. I mean which is it? 100% self-achievement or not?

I almost guarantee if her skin tone was a different shade but she put up the exact same numbers, she'd be recognized the same way. At some point, the raw numbers eclipse everything else.

Do you think JuJu not being of Norwegian ancestry is hurting her popularity currently? Or Hidalgo? JuJu's been hyped even more than Bueckers IMO, who also has the sacred "privilege".

I don’t know. Ask Caitlyn. She’s the one who said it.

Taken at face value, she said she wants to think everything she's achieved was on her own accord, but also accepts it's possible her being white made achieving those things easier. I don't really see anything contradictory in what she said.

So what exactly did she say that got people so twisted in knots? Acknowledging there is white privilege and she probably benefited at least a little?

A question to all the "Caitlin caved" crowd: are you gonna just throw away or light on fire any cards you rip of her from now on? If so, let me know before you do and send them to me instead. I'll even pay shipping. Thanks in advance guys.

I stand by what I’ve said. I’m glad she admitted that being white has played a role in her success.

There is a certain irony in how white people combat the idea of White Privilege by validating the concept of White Fragility.

I don't even think less of her for doing so. A lot of pressure.

I wonder why the NBA isn't like this at all. Women are evil.

Al Bundy said it best... "Don't try to understand women, women understand women and they hate each other."

Anyone who invokes their skin color as either causing a state of 1) privilege or 2)victim is:

1) woefully ignorant of the world and how it works at a minimum, and most likely
2) racist, the very thing they accuse detractors of being themselves

Can't be convinced otherwise

Or she's intelligent and possesses the ability of introspection.

She deserves respect. Her talent, profile and willingness to absorb the immense amount of scrutiny placed on her is impressive.

Also, she's going to bring more money to the league.

Honestly, her range is what made her popular. I can't think of any female player that threw up logo 3's and consistently made them. Add that to her all around game and hustle and that's why she is as heralded as she is. If she didn't have that range, she'd just be a regular star, IMO. If you look at her accomplishments in college, did she benefit from said privilege? All those points was due to that? Do we say the NCAA was built on a skin color? What about high school? Junior high? Elementary school? Before Clark there were other white players in the WNBA? Was the league not built on them too? Or should we go down the rabbit hole and talk about the elephant in the room? The WNBA built on a sexual preference? Haha. Forget about it. Whether you agree or not, Clark impacted her building legacy. She should've taken the Jordan path and not have been political. Just like athletes should have taken the Jeter path and not get married. People watch sports to get away from the BS of every day life. Show me hustle, grit, tenacity, skill and W's. I could care less what your skin color is or what you do behind closed doors.

I like Shiela Johnson’s take. Time should have named the whole league as athlete of the year. The WNBA had success this year because of the draft, not just because of Clark. Angel Reese was a big factor too. There’s never been a more prolific offensive rebounder.

76% of her shots in 2024 were within 5 ft. She only shot a very low 44%. She's literally at the bottom of the WNBA with players over 4 attempts per game. 51% is the second lowest. The average looks to be about 60%. She needs to improve that and she'll be a force and a lot more respected. She'll also need to grow as a person, she really comes across as petty and jealous.

It's funny to me people who "don't see color" make it a point to undermine anything Reese does if she is even brought up in the same convo as CC.

I get it though tbh, since Taylor Swift showed her allegiance to Kamala CC is all middle-america has left for their sweetheart.
