Yep, no guarantees for sure. Definitely need to have some risk tolerance.

But I think the Chosen Juan is a lot more likeable than Lebron is, and his hype is based on things he's done so far (WS ring, batting title, triple slash triple crown) rather than mostly on things we hope we will do. He still has to keep things rolling, to be sure, but it's encouraging when you see articles like this one:

Juan Soto is amazing (and an RBI machine)
ZiPS sees very little difference between Soto’s raw numbers and Trout’s.

Soto: 640 PA, .305/.420/.595 (1.015 OPS), 37 HR, 105 BB
Trout: 593 PA, .283/.420/.600 (1.020 OPS), 39 HR, 104 BB

That slightly undersells Trout’s advantage in park-adjusted wRC+ (164 to 154), but even so, Soto is a clear second in MLB in that category. There shouldn’t be anything controversial about that evaluation, of course. Soto just posted an absurd 201 wRC+ in 2020 -- albeit while playing just 47 games in a shortened season -- and almost nobody in baseball history has hit better through the age of 21. He’s on a Hall of Fame track, and earned a Ted Williams comp for good measure.

And then there’s this: Soto is projected to lead the Majors with a whopping 141 RBIs, or 15 more than free agent Marcell Ozuna and 18 more than the Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger. That’s a gaudy number. No player has cracked 135 RBIs since 2013, and the last players to drive in 141 were Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard in 2009. In what’s certainly a related matter, ZiPS has Nationals leadoff man Trea Turner batting .297/.355/.513, while finishing fourth in the Majors in steals (38) and runs scored (108).

Bill has earned the distinction of being the #1 Soto Collector, but Reggie has to be the #1 Soto Auto RC Collector.

Does anyone else have one of each in existence? I doubt it!

Yesterday I saw a nice 2016 Soto BCA Green numbered /99 for $12,500. BGS 9.5/10. Tempted but passed. Only cause I mainly bought @ 2018/19 prices. Was not collecting in 2016.

Thanks for the kind words! I unfortunately didn’t dip in the 2018 Panini Autos when I first started collecting Soto.. so I still have some work to do. Haha.

Bill is definitely the #1 Soto Collector! I still remember looking at his incredible Soto collection when I first started following Soto shortly after his MLB debut. Bill already had a ton of 2016 BC Soto Autos.

Wow Update Rainbow PSA 10 listed for 1749 on ebay and purchased within hours. Strange since the auctions ending recently went a few hundred lower, but perhaps its the PWCC/PROBSTEIN effect

By the way, refractor /250 PSA 10 which also ended tonight on Goldin Auctions sold for $4,750 + buyer's premium.
PWCC had sold one slightly higher recently for $5,800, but that was PWCC so who knows how real that number was.
