I believe he will go down as an all time great legendary player if you don’t that’s fine but I believe he’s priced appropriately as a young player with potential but is substantially less than the equivalent of the established stars.

These are solid points. Especially comparing KD to Luka prices on this level.

Not sure pop reports, but the Luka is a better looking card and I prefer players that have legacies with 1 team. Hopefully Luka does 10 years with the Mavs.

You are not alone the ones dropping big money right now are firm believers and in it for the long haul minimum 5 years and do not expect them to win anything this year. The team is very young and just making the playoffs was going in the right direction, I personally also beileve Cuban is a winner at everything he does and badly wants another championship

Well this is just a flat out dumb comment. You want to put $10,000 on a 31 year old player coming off a torn Achilles on the downturn of his career?? I’ve played basketball my entire life, and tore my Achilles at 32, and it’s taken well over 2 years to heal and is in no way the same as before. You loose your explosiveness and speed.

I’ll take luka and the upward trajectory of his career over a guy with burner twitter accounts.

Very true. All of KD’s championships thus far came with asterisks. I would invest in Luka over him in a heartbeat.

There is big money coming into the hobby right now from people with lots of discretionary income and Luka cards are one of the benefactors.

The hobby is quickly turning into art with rich/famous people building up their collections.

No way there is a bubble that pops anytime soon, barring injury or other environmental factors, with a player like Luka.

I don’t get people’s concerns with the potential “bubble” w sports cards. I look at these players like a stock. Future earnings potential. I compared it earlier to the topps2020. The only card holding value is the trout card. It’s not a coincidence that he’s the only player in the set that still plays and his prices held.

I’m sure opinions will vary, but I was just in this situation and decided to go with the 2018 purple wave prizm PSA 10. It checked all the boxes I was looking for.

I would say easily Optic base PSA 10's... They are a much, much lower pop than Prizm base PSA 10. Great looking card too similar to Topps Chrome that people love so much.

Just because that’s the list price, doesn’t mean he won’t sell for less. My buyer had it listed for $5500 I think, he sold for $4500. And zero ulterior motive. I’m not going to less something for what I just bought it for. Lol. The guys looking to spend a considerable sum on a card and I’m just offering up what I did in his situation. There are other routes to go, mine isn’t the end all, be all.

Not accusing you of anything. Don't misunderstand. And I am half joking on the ulterior motive thing. People take everything so seriously on this board but not everything I post is so serious. You were very fair and balanced in how you presented your option. The 2nd post was sus. My advice is still sound do your own research and follow your gut.

2nd year cards are great value on a budget with great potential for price increases. I never pulled a Holo or silver Luka his RC year. Bummed, but not overly considering the collection I have. Fast forward this year. I pulled both his silver from Prizm and Holo from optic and they are currently at PSA. I AM glad to have those 2nd year Holo, but if they come back PSA 10 it will be hard to pass up the money. We shall see.

Grab something within the price range that you like the look of. If its me I am going for a From Downtown insert from Cornerstones just because I love the look of the card. Doesn't always have to be a Prizm or an Optic.

You mean the reply about buying the bass optics? Lol. Yeah, I agree. It’s best to do your own research for sure. When I got back in the hobby in 2017 it took me a long time of lurking on these boards and sifting through all types of information to have a decent idea of what the hell was going on and how to best use my resources. So, I try and pass along advice as best I can as I’ve learned a lot on these boards. Again, other may have different options for his question, was just my opinion.
