A raw factory-set Topps Chrome variation just sold for $87, and a 2019 Bowman Chrome base just auctioned for $16.50.

No, they’re not as sexy as a US1 black going for $2500, but they’re very telling of the rising tide. I wouldn’t be surprised in the Bowman Chrome were still a $4 card. Instead, it’s 4x that.

Makes sense, I think...Pop 835 gem #201 ref. vs /150 TCU ref. produced (pop 39 gem I think it was).

Whew that’s your big boy Vlad right there ! That should go for an exorbitant amount..unlike the US1 Gold /2019 PSA 10 that ended at 546 today. Seems like a real steal for someone. I’m spent out at this point but I’d be buying every one at that price if I wasn’t. Cannot believe that price.

I just purchased one yesterday for $590. I guess I got ripped off. Lol. (I’m ok with it)

I was watching that one, but was in the middle of something when its time came. All things considered, that’s a really good deal. And the $590 purchase is money well spent, as well.

Yeah absolutely agree I wasn’t just saying this to say it, I truly thought these would would go in the 700-800 range. Kudos to anyone buying these for five hundred anything. That card could be 2 grand by the end of September IMO. They will dry up Tatis style, and I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t currently own either but have held as many at one point as anyone.

Got smoked in an auction on a PSA 10 TCU #21 Refractor, but managed to pick up a sweet PSA 9 TCU #21 Xfractor /199. Not necessarily a steal at current prices, but my gut tells me it will be a steal by the time the season’s over.

Not following you at all on the ‘19 BC rc. So tatis us $40-45 per (same set) but you think Vlad would be $4? Vlad BC rc should be $20+

Tatis will always be hurt imo. This stuff of doing the splits, etc - he’s way too flashy. It’ll lead to him always dealing with injuries.

I love me some Vladdy, but I don’t think there is any reason to diminish the star power of Tatis, Acuna, or Soto. I see this decade as a golden age for baseball. Anyone that says this is simply another crop of prospects or it’s just recency bias is kidding themselves. The amount/quality of superstar potential in the 18 and 19 rookie classes is almost unprecedented. This is without even mentioning Ohtani.

At this stage, pretty much. Rookie-year Bowman Chrome has fallen behind quite a bit within the hobby.

A couple weeks ago they were selling for $5-$7. The Vlad color refractors are selling reasonably well, but still at a fraction of the TC color. Some of the more popular cards are just starting to show a steeper rise in what seemed like a delayed response by the market, so I was a little surprised to see the BC base leap already happening.

So, whether it’s $4,$7 or $10, I wouldn’t necessarily expect the base to gain as much traction at this point. At $16.50 plus shipping, that means someone put more than $20 toward a Bowman Chrome base. And it appears that another one sold on Friday for $30.

That’s an aggressive price climb for a card that I would expect to lag behind NNO, TC 201, US1, and TCU 21. I’m speaking as someone who bought a gold refractor for $65 and an orange for $100. That was a while back, but it seemed to indicate that Bowman Chrome was being left for dead—at least until a player’s rising market pulls his BC upward, along with everything else.

The ultimate point is that it’s an indication that the Vlad market is strengthening.
