Upper Deck Series 1 20-21

I am in for a couple at the LCS for $100 each. I know they pre-ordered for $80 or so, but I'm ok paying a premium to support the LCS. Plus, in comparison to other sports, it's a relatively reasonable rip, which for me is the primary draw as I like to open them with my son.

I primarily collect basketball, but it's been quite a while since there have been any reasonable hobby packs to open.

The other main draw for Lafarniere is he is from Quebec.
There French YG's that are SP that will sell really well I'm sure.

Bianca Andreescu also has an auto in this that will do really well.

Obviously all the YG's are trash so the hype is a little high for the product.


Supposedly it is already sold out everywhere.
Till the next price hike...

I'm getting a box tomorrow for $85 usd taxes in so happy with that.

If they show exclusives odds on the box then I'll get a case.

But if he pans out even remotely close to the hype, that's really all it's going to take at the pre-sale prices on hobby (I'm in at $900 per case).

Got my case shipping notification today. ETA is Thursday, but oh well. Very Excited None the less. LCS is still closed due to COVID so not much can be done.

Never though that UD flagship would would ever get this high at release. I really don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing. I fear some kids may miss getting a hobby box due to these prices.

My LCS is not selling cases and has a 3 box limit per customer, kinda sucks as I was hoping to grab a few more than that...

Watching the prices out of the gate. Looks like as long as UD puts exclusives that’s not found in the e-packs it’s a hot chase. I don’t see Target blasters going for much more but Walmart has the Megas with O-Pee-Chee and Blaster with the YG jumbos and Hobby boxes have their exclusives.

Definitely a hold product.

The only cards that they put in hobby that won’t be in epack are worthless inserts. And if we’ve learned anything about the Walmart and Target exclusive bonuses (jumbo YG, OPC inserts), those don’t hold much water either.

I’m curious if Lafreniere will go for more than Matthews when 16/17 Series 1 was released. Thats how I’m gauging this product. Also, 16/17 had many other rookies to chase than just the top guy (Laine canvas, Marner canvas, Mantha, Tkachuk, Mantha, Aho, Connor, Point, etc.). I’m just don’t see much depth after Lafreniere in 20-21 S1.

Hobby has the exclusive and high gloss parallels. It's hard to hit a young guns on one of those, but adds some value to hobby boxes. I don't,t think Lafreniere will be higher out of the gate than Matthews. Toronto is the hockey capital and prices are always inflated for their superstars.

I agree...this will give an idea of how much hobby is printed. Any idea what the ratio was the McDavid year? They printed the crap out of that and 2020 environment is much more insane.

They never released it for mcdavid since it was so over printed.

If odds are not on there then it means its overprinted.

They do now...

I know Hobby for sure people want the plastic see thru cards. I know the retail exclusives are not as popular but overtime they can be.

When or how will the print runs be determined?

Lots of 'rumours' on facebook that the print run of S1 is low compared to other years but who knows....
