I honestly have to give you all kudos for not ripping that stuff open.

I don’t know how you do it. When I buy stuff, I open it.

However, If I had a 1/10th as much self control I’d be able to show you the 2-3 boxes of Bowman Jumbos, Bowman Chrome Jumbos and Bowman Draft I’ve bought religiously every year since 2012 (yeah, one year too late huh?). That would include 4 boxes of 2016 Bowman Chrome Vending boxes I pre-ordered at $199/box.

Again, kudos to all and you should consider live streaming on Twitch if you ever open it yourselves.

2002-2020...how many of those years is wax is even good in baseball...probably not many...especially older years.

I don't get it.. you can make infinitely more money buying singles. The odds are pretty stacked against anyone giving a damn about anything outside of 2009 BDPP and 2011 Update

especially for non-MLB Wax, its much easier to have the wax win.

Agreed! If I learned anything in 2020, Wax is the Way!

It's fun to open wax, and it's fun to buy singles of "your guy" with the hope that his value appreciates, but at that point it's gambling... Nothing wrong with that, everyone has their own style! I like balance - I have some sealed, I have a few guys that I hope turn into something, even if for a short period of time, and I open some product just for the occasional fun.

Selling sealed product essentially funds everything else in the hobby that I do for fun at this point.

I still open, but I mostly buy wax to keep sealed now. This is what changed it for me. Ive shared parts of this story before in older posts, but what got me back in the game was 2011 Topps Update US175. (Full story below lol)

I have two empty hobby boxes of 2011 Topps Update that stare at me every time I open my closet. Now I know not everything is going to turn into that (but for example 2013 Update is ~$400 and 2018 Update I think I saw someone post here that its reaching a $1000 now), it makes me think how great it would be if those boxes were sealed.

Full story:

When his RCs were for going for $30-50 raw, I went through my collection and found it in a open box of the 2011 Topps Update Value Box. So this would have been I believe 2013, and I remembered noticing that was still hanging around in stores (2011 Update in general). This got me hooked back in the card world.

Anyways, I proceeded to go every KMart (I would include stops while on various baseball trips, or favors like taking friends to the airport) in the radius of Atlanta to Cincinnati & Nashville-Charlotte. I can still tell the 4 or 5 different locations various locations different KMarts would keep their cards.
I also included stops at TRU, Walmart, & Dunhams.

The amount of retail product I ripped, I cant even imagine what that would be worth today. I also opened two hobby boxes as mentioned above.

It was fun to rip sure, and I did get a few Trouts along with other cards, but it would be even more fun now to take a picture of all that product sealed today in this thread.

P.S I remember when Blowout had a "Trout Fishing" lot of 2011 Update product, which was mostly a mix of retail stuff. Anyone recall that of what all it had and for how much?

In 20 years no one will care about Soto/Acuna either.

For sure. Unopened wax is a big mistake.

I highly encourage people to open everything!!!!! Otherwise, it's just worthless!
