You’d be wrong. Easily. Probably won’t be a couple grand right out of the gate, but it will absolutely blow up.

The market for that card is international.

More valuable than Kevin Costner, Federer, Pele', Axl Rose and Sylvester Stallone.

That's crazy. What a wacky world.

What’s wacky about a person with a greater reach, already with a trading card presence, and an huge international footprint, being a bigger hit with their first licenses auto, than those guys.

Want a Pele auto, have your pic. Want an Ash auto, slim pickings.

Yes, but at the time the popularity was only with the people you described, poor college kids haha not folks with disposable income to make his card valuable.

That is true. But she has been Ash since 2006 which is a very long time.

Disagree 100%. Those “poor college kids” now are graduated with good paying jobs and disposable income. His Ginter auto isn’t cheap either and it never was

I do wish they'd get back to the Allen & Ginter World Champions theme of the original set and the first few Topps editions. They went through champions in everything from boxing to hot dog eating in the first few years, but there's no reason not to go back to those areas 15+ years later. There are probably new champions.

However, since we're now in the era of Allen & Ginter People Who Have Some Notoriety In Some Niche Area, I would like to see some What We Do In The Shadows autos. Taika Watiti and Matt Berry have signed for Topps recently in Star Wars products, and I'd freak the F out if Matt was in A&G. I'd fight Wood Minis to the death for the Berry Wood Mini. Or at least trade heavily in his favor.

There's so many areas of "champions" they would never run out. National Cribbage Champion. Spelling Bee Champion. Crossword Puzzle Champion. Bass Fishing Champion. Boston Marathon winner. Pillsbury Bake-Off winner. Pulitzer Prize winner. Yeah they're not all going to be big names, but they would be interesting. How about a Nobel Prize winner?

I think they could do a mix - a few niche champions, a few social influencers, a few Hollywood types, a few music types, a few people from non-baseball sports. Make sure there are 4 or 5 big name attractions, and people would be happy. I think it's the move to 80% social media folks that has made people unhappy.

Agreed 100%.

The non-stop run of B-list comedians and now the social media crop has been a big turn off. None of these autographs are actual "Champions" of anything and don't seem to be on brand.

If it was a new release called "2023 Topps Allen & Ginter: Flash in the Pan Guys Who Sign Cheap Because They Want Attention to Gain Social Media Followers" then they would fit right in.

You referred to his popularity in 2017 which is what I was responding to. He obviously blew up after that. His card was only $300 when it came out, though. It didn’t go through the roof until later when supply diminished and his popularity spanned multiple genres.

I also don’t care for the path they’ve taken. The social media folks aren’t it. The majority of A&G folks aren’t into that - probably apparent in the lack of value of most autos in the last 8 years or so. I still like 2020 autos, though. Strong checklist.

Would not be shocked to see Stroud/Young/Levis in here as they’re supposedly fanatics exclusives now. Could use their college uni

That Ash one is going to be massive

Always holding out hope we see another college/Olympic wrestler to add to my PC

The psa/dna signed Natochenny Pokemon cards I see on ebay look cool. They sell for about $125-$175 it seems.

would love to see more college/olympic wrestlers
love my cael, arguably the greatest wrestler of all time, not even counting his coaching accomplishments

Bud, Ash is a fictional character. You're talking about the voice actor, who cares
