This all sounds like a recipe for fixed boxes. Fanatics has too much power through manufacturing, selling, breaking, grading. It is set up for backdoor activity.

Well there's still plenty of cases and boxes of pretty much all the 2023 releases so far available on the Topps site. That's something you never saw in 2020, 2021, or 2022.

100% that Backdoor Breaks and friends of fanatics are getting loaded boxes. Like that Topps dynasty break they did with the soccer player.

Breaker product will just cannibalize everything else. Which is probably what they want. People who don’t mind breaking won’t bother opening anything else. People who don’t want to break will be turned off by the devaluing of the other products.

Love how Fanatics thinks they don’t need anyone but the backdoorbois crowd.

I'm going to attempt some mathematics here to help us figure out if they are "stuffing" the breaker packs with the best cards. Someone let me know if this doesn't look right.
** From the pack odds on Topps.com. the "youth quake autos" are only found in the breaker packs. Last year there were 30 cards in that youthquake checklist. So there would be 30 super fractor 1/1 youth quake autos. The pack odds to pull one from a breaker pack is 1:246. so multiply 30:246 = 7380 total breaker packs.
** The pack odds of pulling a basecard superfractor from a breaker pack are listed at 1:1202. 7380/1202 = 6 "ish" (not sure why it doesn't come out to exactly 6. Maybe Topps can't do math? Maybe not ever card in the checklist has a superfractor?)
** So 6 of the basecard superfractors should come out of the breaker packs.
** If those 6 all turn out to be really desirable players, then we will have hard evidence that Fanatics is really juicing up the breaker packs.

Am I making any sense here?

IF it turns out that Fanatics is deliberately steering all the best cards to breakers, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm probably done with buying any ultramodern wax, and I just don't have interest in buying into breaks.

Another interesting thing I noticed. The odds of pulling a rookie auto out of a hobby box are 1:3. Out of a Jumbo its 2:1. So two years ago you could get 2 rookie autos out of a hobby box. Now you have to buy three boxes just to get one rookie auto. So from an auto perspective Jumbo is watered down and hobby is REALLY watered down.

I think I'm just a hard pass on all this and wait for stadium club.

Yep, it's a shame Fanatics shut down most breakers just so their small, select group can open the special boxes.

If they were truly all-in on breaking they would have tried to keep a fair open market that anyone could break in. But now we get a small group of super special breakers with super special boxes made just for them. What a joke.

Fanatics killing the LCS, breaking and an open market as a whole. As soon as they get this up and running, I bet they go after grading.

They're killing a major aspect of the hobby (i.e. opening boxes for fun) simply by pricing products so high that nobody other than breakers will buy them.

Yeah I just don’t get it. People who just want to open some boxes for fun are just going to say screw it. Another thing: if they drive a bunch of LCS to liquidate, that will flood the secondary market with a lot of singles and wax that have been sitting in stores inventory. Interesting times.
