Ugh. Boxes are now $139.95 (were $100) and cases are $1,599 (were $1,150). I’m so torn. There’s a decent chance this’ll be cheaper in a year if it doesn’t prove popular. But there’s also a good chance it gets more expensive.

EDIT: Bought a case. It's only money, right?

Plenty to go around if you want to pay up for it.

If you just want packs to open, probably. If you're looking for autographs, doubtful.

Both cases and boxes are out of stock again. There were five cases available yesterday.

Blowout's notification system is hilariously delayed. I got an e-mail that boxes were back in stock this morning, long after the boxes were available again. I never got an e-mail about cases.

I’m getting 2 cases from my distributor at the $12.65/blaster cost so I’m pretty excited about that. I think these are still a no brainer if they stay at $20. The exclusive parallels of the right athletes will do well.

The entire product depends on what percentage of the checklist are the hopefuls that didn’t make the team, the Paralympic athletes, and how much representation there is with the major sports

LOL - I signed up for notification and never even got one. Thanks, Blowout!

Edit: this will be a bloodbath at $1600/case. No thanks!

My distributor has 8/7 as the date but I don’t think those are ever concrete dates for retail. Hopefully it’s a bit sooner than that.

No checklist or odds so far. I'm surprised we're two weeks away and preorders are still nearly nonexistent.

Based on the already teased autos and the potential inclusions (Team USA LeBron/Curry/Durant autos, possible first licensed cards of Cooper Flagg, likely RCs of Hezly Rivera/Quincy Wilson/etc), this has the potential to run up big IMO if done right

Wish I was this optimistic but I see this being really ugly.
Probably going to sit it out but definitely not buying anything until I see a checklist.

I'd be happy to load up on this product (hobby configuration) at MSRP if I could. Shoot, I'm happy to pay a decent premium for it too.

Just comparing it to the last Topps Olympics product, it's significantly better.

- 2 autos vs. 1 auto
- Topps Chrome vs. Topps
- Better checklist => More people will rip/collect in efforts of chasing their targeted Olympians
- Better autos: Katie Ledecky (first-ever Topps autos, no?), Michaels Phelps (on-card), etc

That's already quite strong AND what we already know.

If they include Team USA basketball (Curry/LeBron/etc) and other high-profiled Olympians, even better. They expanded the base checklist to 200 cards so I'd expect some to be included.

If only we knew the odds, retail configuration(s) could provide for a decent-value rip/hold/flip.

Topps actually getting it out on time as opposed to releasing after the event is over (looking at you WBC) will help too. This will be pumped to high heavens on Fanatics Live.

IMO, Topps WBC was the success it was because collectors ripped wax at MSRP, got great value from their breaks and fell in love with the cards, and were able to buy more at MSRP before mainstream hobby became aware of it.

Products that have a strong collector's base as their foundation thrive.

We already know that demand is high for 2024 TC Olympics given how quickly it sells out (at MSRP as well as at a decent premium).

Releasing after the event as opposed to before/during could benefit collectors in the same way WBC did.

How well it "performs" largely depends on the break outcome/odds and what else is in the product (we already know that there's some nice chase cards though). But as of right now, with what we know, it's still priced too cheap relative to other products. For that reason, I can see group breakers jumping on it.

Wouldn't be surprised if some group breakers sell spots at $1-$2 and only ship out the hits.

I agree with all of your points. When I said the product releasing during the event will help, I meant that it will help inflate the price. I didn't mean to imply it will help the end collector, we agree it will likely do the opposite.

Also, 100% on the odds/checklist having a huge influence. Each case will yield 24 autos and 96 parallels. If there's big names to chase this could be great. I saw preorders as low as $85. If this releases on topps.com at that price it's full send.

WBC was one hell of a product for anyone who got in early.

Yeah, and WBC was foil paper. Just imagine if it was chrome.

The pessimist in me keeps expecting the CL/odds to be dreadful, because honestly how many releases are chrome + 2 on card autos + sub $100 anymore? I'm incredulous.

Haha yeah, that's how I understood it.

It sounds counterintuitive but I'm thinking that releasing after the event as opposed to before/during the event could potentially inflate prices more. Releasing after the event will probably discourage some flippers/group breakers from buying the product because they'll only want to deal with what's "relevant" and might view it "too risky" (especially at premium prices). With less attention on the product, collectors have more time to pick up boxes/singles (and at better prices).

Then as more and more collectors share their break outcomes and PC cards on social media, the flippers/group breakers that originally passed on the product will jump into it because they'll realize it's an opportunity to make money or because they have FOMO (and because the product isn't absurdly priced relative to other products).

Now you have a product propped up by collectors and flippers/group breakers, with a strong foundation in the former (aka Topps WBC).

But this is assuming that the hobby configuration is more than just the 2 autos + 1 relic (good break odds and/or checklist).

Haha, with an expanded checklist (compared to the last [paper] release), odds of having a dreadful checklist are less likely.

Has it been confirmed that all autos are on-card? I didn't meticulously review the marketing materials.

It's hard to always trust Topps, but from the images released so far they certainly look on card. I can't imagine they'd put a sticker on a Dynasty style card either.
