Anyone following this story in Quebec? Apparently this guy took $1.5 million in SPA preorders and has gone AWOL. No one can get in touch with him and his shop is shuttered.

Rumors he fled the country but someone apparently spotted him behind the bench at Habs - Kraken on Tuesday.

Why didn't I think of this. Even easier money than breaking.

Well, maybe they'll get around to arresting him in half a decade.

Exactly. The dilution only ends when product stops moving. UD is incentivized to print as much as the market will handle.

Absolutely brutal with the GPS breaks.

That shop looks exactly like one that popped up during the Covid boom to capitalize and that guy looks exactly like the type to steal 1.5 mil lmao so wouldn't be surprised if story is true.

Am I missing something, or is there no Bedard FWAP on eBay? I also watched a lot of breaks and don't think I saw a single one pulled.

You don't need to have allocation when you have zero intention of getting any product...

Same thing happened in 2003-04 basketball products - people were preselling mid-high end UD with zero intent of fulfilling.

I enjoy zeeree tossing money into the wind. Plus he's brutal honest. His first two boxes of this were like opening Pro set for $800.00.

I realize he doesn't have zillions of subscribers and his videos don't get tons of views, but he plugs something at the beginning every time, so he is not paying close to retail, if anything at all. Plus, that dude is among the luckiest I'd ever seen overall, to the point where I wonder if he opens more than he shows and cherry picks what he actually posts.

He gets reimbursed for the sponsor ad at the beginning, but he has stated (and no reason to believe otherwise) that he pays for all the product he rips. He's "unsponsored" in that regard.

Did you see his McDavid 2015 OPC Platinum rookie chase? He got like 10 or 15% back total across several boxes. Only base McDavids. He gets choo-choo'd a lot on his channel, his wins are definitely not outpacing.

The only reason, which he stated in the 2 box SPA break, to open new product with horrible ROI is for channel content. Last year's SPA was already sending him to the exit with regards to that specific product. The entire hobby could learn from his example and move to buying singles of the cards we want.

In a hobby full of idiots, aholes, and con-artists, zeeree is one of the good guys. No reason to hate. Like, he's earned zero hate IMO.

He's an amusing watch. It gives my OCD brain nightmares watching him toss everything into heaping piles lol. His unyielding hatred of retro FWA is a reliable gift each year now.

I like watching zeeree, he is honest and won't try and sugarcoat crappy insert cards to justify a products cost.

That's terrible. Hope everyone either gets their orders or their money back.

How do ppl know he took $1.5M in preorders?

His disgust with everything in SPA except true FWA is pretty great.

I think they came to that number in the Facebook group from the screenshot I posted.

Getting this secondhand from a discord chat I'm in. Not on FB so I can't join that group to check.

I'd rather have UD just raise the print run on the FWAs to 2k or 3k or whatever. At least it would be honest. Nobody wants the fake retro FWAs and it is confusing for collectors. Enough of the retro stuff already.

No hate. And maybe it's nitpicking, but if he gets $$ for sponsorship, then he's indirectly getting his boxes for less. But agreed, he seems above board and I have nothing against him or how he operates.

He buys them like any of us. The fact he generates revenue via paid sponsor ads or google adsense is besides the point. He runs a Youtube channel and makes a little money to pay for his time (and ultimately helps fund some of the product and cards he buys). You specifically keep saying he's getting deals on product, he is not. And he has stated it's to maintain objectivity, so he can be honest about the products he's opening. His entire schtick is that he says what he thinks, his honesty is his brand.

Think of it this way -- a car reviewer can use test cars from the manufacturer (no cost to them, but with an unwritten expectation that they are beholden to the manufacturer for this 'free' access else lose it next car model release). Or the reviewer can buy (or borrow from other owners) the cars they review, which maintains objectivity. In both cases the youtuber makes google advertising and possibly sponsor revenue, but one can be completely objective. This is why this distinction is important.

I'm no one special and I had access to this at about $7USD (conversion rate of .72) more /box. Not that crazy of a deal.

Contrarian or troll?

I'm not here to defend Zeeree, his reputation speaks for itself (as well as him specifically addressing all these things at various times over the years).

I don’t know which one you are. I just quoted what he stated in the video.

I said it once, yes. Then you brought new facts to light, which I acknowledged. When did I ever say he wasn't objective? Please enlighten me. Clearly he is, and could even be if he was being sourced product at a discount. You might want to pump the brakes a bit....
