Another Marvel Sale is up... Upper Deck is either waiting until last minute to increase discounts or just going to pull products. I'm starting to think they will just pull products.

What is the point in “vaulting” them

You can buy Shang-Chi physical for $20 a box from a competitor site

Why wouldn’t they blow that product out and get whatever they can out of them?

It is possible they have pricing agreements in place with their distributors that limit UD's ability to undercut on price.

Ya..some of their sets have a very poor long term outlook. I'm looking at u MCU sets. I mean one or two autos per case? Really? But the comic book art sets will always have demand. Perhaps they have a deal in place with their big online distributers for them. Especially funko. I can see this set catching fire one day. Or maybe Fanatics craps the bed with their marvel product and UD takes the license back over and tosses all the old stuff back on epack.

That’s what they did for the 2 remaining Disney products (Mickey and Lion King) they abruptly pulled them over a weekend.

Maybe they can take a tax loss for the unsold product that has to get pulled due to lost licensing and that loss more than offsets any gain they would get from a 90% fire sale. The whole thing is weird.

Could also be a pricing agreement with Marvel. I dunno

They could also have a deal with one of several places that do repacks to take the physical card or even just the hits instead of liquidating.

I see packs at Target and Walmart that claim to have hits. So I could see these popping up for Marvel and Disney.

Getting rid of the Disney might have been a test...

Last sale of the year? 50% off select Marvel sets through December 31.

https://www.upperdeckepack.com/News/..._Sale_is_Live_

I count 13 sets on sale, including 2020 Marvel Cyber at 75% off.

Well...was hoping to see Funko at 50% and Hawkeye at 25%. Got neither. Some are speculating in the fb groups that this is not in fact the final sale and that the real "final" sale will take place on the 30th. I'm not so sure. It clearly states that this sale expires on the 31st at 4:59pst. The exact time they all go poof.

They could escalate the sale (“take an extra 25% off sale price”) kind of thing, but I doubt it. Still, likely best to wait until the last day for any purchases…just in case.

Clearly seems they want to take a tax loss and destroy it all

It costs money to print up boxes and packs, and to pull from COMC and package this stuff up to sell to retailers. Not to mention having no physical base (typically). The loss is certainly less effort. Someone somewhere has this all on an Excel spreadsheet and knows what will cause less of a loss.

Exactly this -

Wait until the last 24 hours or even the last few hours.

No reason to buy anything without seeing if they discount it more in the final day.

I doubt they will discount it further since like others have said they already mentioned sale runs through 12/31. And if they did offer a last minute deal then people would sit on their wallets for the Marvel stuff that is staying on ePack post-12/31 until a steep discount hit those sets too. If Mickey/Lion King is any clue the Marvel sets disappear with a whimper after the designated date. We won’t get the crazy 90% off Notre Dame deal.

Or they have a repacker lined up to take the lot of what doesn't sell.

I could see where they might make more money in a bulk deal than fire sales at 75% or more off.

But why didn’t they even do a single 25% markdown on several products. Surely, a repacker would not pay that much on a bulk purchase…

Hawkeye is the biggest mystery to me. You can buy hobby boxes for $50. They're $85 on epack, and have never been on sale. So UD would rather sell their remaining epack stock at $25 a box to whoever over including them in their clearance sale. Pretty sure they would sell out at 50% off. So unless they just plan on vaulting I dont get the logic.

If they’re planning on a fire sale, waiting until 12/30 makes the most sense. Get whatever you can now at higher prices and then fire sale what’s left. They know that at 75% or more off, will drive people into a frenzy.

I'm hoping for blowout sale, but don't think its coming. I say enjoy it while you can. This time next year, probably won't even be a thread about Upper Deck Marvel on first page of forums.

There will still be few Marvel products left over after January 1st. A bunch cool hits about to disappear and never be seen.

I tried some Hawkeye since I've yet to open any physical or ePack. Fun last binge.

Only 3 days and a couple of hours left. Still no additional discounts. I have bought a box of Falcon and Winter Soldier each day for the past few, but haven't gotten any autos.

Just broke 1 box each of Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Winter Soldier/Falcon and ended up with $10 in cards for my $180. Bloodbath. No sketches, no autos, just a long train of manufactured relics.

What are the chances that someone at UD jumped the gun and has backdoored all the good hits a few days early?
