I think more people would like Ginter if they cut down on the number of no-name non-baseball people and made all the non-baseball relics/autos/parallels sp or ssp. Get rid of the sports writers/businessmen/comedians that no one has heard of or cares about aside from a very small portion of collectors.

Anyone hear anything official from Topps about the test products/mis-packed items?

for me, yes, I want it to get back to world champions and be other sport legends vs pop culture folks...don't get me wrong, I don't mind 1-2 movie stars, tv stars, or sportscasters, but yes it was a lot this year of folks I had not heard of outside of sports

Why put champions and hall of famers in it when guys will still buy 40 cases of it sight unseen?

I anticipate 2016 ginter will be worse. Why put good cards in it, it sells out anyways.

ok, when you say guys, you mean me, I get it
I am the only one
and 40 cases (or 36) is not a drop in the production budget
it is not ME buying these, it is the distributors, they buy the qty up and sell it
I can't order what they don't order

but how else are we suppose to buy it?
wait for weeks?
no way I could ever get the qty I wanted by waiting or the MUCH lower pricing I get or the secondary market prices since stuff sells and drops for most part after a few days and my good direct customers move on to someone that has what they need in a timely manner

there is a bigger picture here
you may not fully see it or understand it
no one says it is perfect
but it's what we have
and when I stop busting next year after over 15 years, it won't change Topps or anyone else, in fact it may only strengthen things to have all my stuff off the market and direct buyers looking elsewhere as well
but not like they will make 40 less cases, lol, and even if they did, that's nothing

Don't sell yourself short here. Sure 40 cases may be a drop in the bucket, but you bring A LOT of attention to the product. If you did put the bug in peoples ear that you weren't buying ginter in 2016 I have no doubt that that would effect the market.

I have on numerous occasions told topps what I thought of 2015 ginter. I bought two less cases than I usually do...still a drop in the bucket, but my dealer sure did notice and that gets passed up the chain.

Ginter has one major thing going for it...the release date. The high season of baseball releases is right around the all star game and ginter always hits around then. Add in the national and I can see why topps thinks they can get away with all this.

Knowing you are also a collector of ginter, I know you hate seeing the devaluation of this stuff. I don't know if you kept any 2015, but if you did you know it should be worth more.

Your opinion means a lot here Brent. You are in a good position with all your followers on twitter. Topps knows that. Make sure you tell them what you think.

and why does topps get away with getting orders and money before they put out a checklist? How long has it been that way?

So much I could say but already have
You have NO idea what I have talked to Topps about
And yes, since I blocked you on Twitter you have not seen the displeasure I have voiced over & over they told me my comments are getting lost now since they have heard it all
BUT the product is not made for me, or case breakers in general, I have had numerous, lengthy conversations with several Topps employees
each product has different goals, budgets, collectors in mind
and Topps does not have to make products that make me or anyone money or even that go up, although Ginter is above cost still
As a collector I have said in this forum what I missed this year, but it's different for each person, and so I keep open mind as well, no offense, but yours always seems closed and does not care about other's opinions

I do use my voice but it doesn't go far (used to go further with Sapir and team), but if always bashing/negative, they stop listening, plus it is hard for people to hear my comments or feedback from breaks because they only see $ or think it's about making or losing, and that is NOT the case; sure it is one aspect I focus and report on, but I care about avg box values and for collectors, and as you said I collect myself
In this case it pays to work aside Topps not against them, and right now many of my best contacts that made decisions are not around anymore

as for checklists, sure, BUT checklist change even up to a week before release (this one did change several times, but I can not get into that)
but with any card company, it would be nice to at least have partial checklists earlier
or even a buyback auto checklist now that product is out or print runs, but it ain't happening, I've asked

This release really soured me on what used to be one of my favorite breaks. Total garbage.

I liked it. Lots of variety and some real sleeper cards in it. Loved Rocky stuff. 10th Ann cards are a nice bonus. Not in class of 2011, 13, 14 or first two years. Middle of road year for it. Kinda like 2010 year. Now people like 2010.

Ended up ripping my baez/soler double 03/25. Got a McCutchen mini rip card 07/15. Pretty happy with the result.

Carp book is nice. Benoit is glossy 1/1, encarnacion plate. Ichiro red, trout buyback....not much to chat about after that.
Hey man, this is a long shot, but is this available?
