Didn't see him say anything like that for some of the other comments on the post, although he did say he had planned a father/son Griffey card that didn't get approved.

If Fucci had started with Tatis his set would be in the running for Top Gun.

The faceless Fucci was a big No for me, I liked 3 of the cards total.

Today's 4 cards are up:
- Mimsbandz 1973 Clemente and Pirates Josh Harrison: The Mims cards sound better as a concept than they look on my computer screen, but the Clemente is a well-played tribute. It's great to see a '73 Topps Clemente. - Quiccs wrapper: Looks cool, but I don't get "Topps wrapper" from this - Toy Tokyo Willie Mays: Giants fans may like this? The Quiccs wrapper rules. I wish one of futura's wrappers had been like this.

The 8 month pregnant toy Tokyo Mays is the best of the bunch today.

3 artists whose sets I'm not collecting--oh where have you gone Mister Cartoon?--but a pretty cool 4-pack nonetheless. I think I like all of these more than any of yesterday's cards.
Agreed that the Mimsbandz cards don't necessarily translate great to cardboard, but the 1973 Clemente is a worthy inclusion, and Josh Harrison is a great player selection. I was just thinking how we have so many cards of guys like Aaron Judge, not just the Project 2020 players and Mookie Betts and Dock Ellis. I really appreciate the creative player selection making its way into the final week. Yes, Willie Mays is a Project 2020 repeat but at least he's not another Betts or Judge. And it is a cool card, regardless of how you feel about player choice. The Quiccs wrapper is wild and busy. Is it a hint that there will be a Topps Quiccs Collection standalone set in the future? |

James Mims' process
Has anyone seen an in-depth video or article on Mimsbandz's process, how he used to create things and/or how he does so currently (assuming his current process is different)? There are plenty of avenues like https://www.thestudio.com/custom-patches/, but I assume that if you know the process well you can get better results. The two videos below discuss the importance of his interaction with the player and going digital (embroidery) in the mid 80s after his hand-sewn Dusty Baker prototype, but I'm curious to understand his process more fully. Is his more-detailed P70 stuff created at a larger scale? It seems like they are still physical patches that are then photographed. The wrist band material frames seem to be added digitally. Are these P70 designs being physically provided to the active players? His Meet the Artist episode (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSmH1TyEfWU) was a nice intro. This interview is longer, but worth it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH4iSdCBHhU. Unfortunate interaction he had with Bryce Harper. |

I was pretty confused as well. I dig it but it definitely feels like a companion piece more than an official P70 card… …with that said, aren’t companion pieces usually significantly more? So maybe this is a good thing for Quicc fans… certainly considering one ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

These feel like a card and companion card.

Then I bought one (gooden) and it hit way hard, somehow that one had more impact for me than any other card (I also really liked Blake's gooden). I have a pair of Fucci Yankee foils (Jeter / Judge) from this year that I enjoy. I feel Fucci is a solid contributor, but I would also never argue that anyone needs to like the cards. |

Mini-sets are becoming quite popular.
They are less expensive and easier to display. ![]()

Completionists are at a disadvantage unless they have very deep pockets, huge basements, and patient friends. The rest of us better be happy with mini sets. |
