Totally agree.

I guess the point I was trying to make was this is a team with a double digit lead in the division on a long road trip. There's going to be hiccups in the season and this is a good time for one.

Let's worry about the staff IF they're struggling in middle of September when everything really starts to matter

And the point the rest of us are trying to make is we knew there were concerns with the starting rotation, well before the trade deadline. Yes, June was a ridiculous month, going 21-4. But in May, they went 15-14 and July they went 13-10.

We knew there could be concerns with Elder. There was a wide gap between his actual numbers and what the expected numbers should have been. And now we're seeing those level off. We also knew about the innings and where he would be pushing into career high levels.

Morton is Morton. Strider is already right around his career high. Max is Max, still needs to get his length back. The AAA guys haven't really stepped up. And AA's only move to help the rotation was to get a guy that was DFA'd.

I think they need to treat Strider very carefully for the rest of the season. He's vital to this teams success in the playoffs. He goes down due to injury or just being too tired (since he's already around career highs)...this team is toast. They have to have Strider and Max at max effort.

Fortunate to split that series. Pitching was absolutely abysmal.

Played out exactly as expected today. The offense can only do so much, every single day.

The pitching staff is giving up over 5 runs per game since the all star break. The lack of moves at the deadline looks worse and worse.

Can we also stop referencing the division lead? If they give that up, it’ll be a Mets-ian collapse and any WS hopes would be long gone.
The only lead they should be worried about is #1 seed in the NL.

Agreed. The 1 seed is the lead that matters. Having home field for the NLCS matters

We're pushing a month of struggles for the rotation. It's moving beyond a small bump and into legit concern territory. They need to start putting up quality starts, as in 6 innings, 3 runs. Their struggles are going to lead to the bullpen being burnt out come playoff time.

Winans is getting the call for the double header.

Sounds like there may be some roster manipulation going on with Soroka, as I've seen a couple people point out that the team gains an extra year of control if they keep him down until like September 13.

Is this the first time Lopez has played?

That's pretty far down for Murphy although he definitely has cooled off. That guy is a double play machine.

Lopez came in as a runner one game.

The catcher has been hitting 5th. Not sure I agree with Rosario also sliding up a spot. I'll be curious to see if Travis is dropped in game 2. He's been cold as well
