Anyone else think that maybe it's his knee bothering him lately?

Since the All Star break he's putting up 21/8/5 on 41% shooting.... which is great for darn near everyone in the league but seems to be a long was off from what he had been doing earlier in the year.

Honestly? Yes. I do. But if he rests, that team is toast just about every night. 75% Giannis is better than anything else they have. Jabari is progressing. Let’s just hope they can figure it out over the next 6 weeks.

If the guy has a real knee issue, get him rest.

That while franchise is toast without him. Can't risk derailing his career, even if it means that you can only be the 8th seed this year.

Deciding to ask this in this thread instead of starting a thread- how does Jabari look? The last bball stuff I own is Jabari stuff I’ve been sitting on for years, am I good to dump now or hold out hope he hits his stride towards the playoffs and he plays a nice sidekick on a buzzy second round team or whatever?

Well, right now they're the 7th seed, 2.5 games out of the 5th seed.

It's hard to imagine them beating Toronto, Boston or Cleveland, so they'll probably need a few things to go right to get to the second round.

But if they do pull off an upset, you never know.

Man, this thread hasn't been bumped in a while as it looks like the Giannis hype train has come to a stop. I managed to watch the game last night against the Clippers. I have not been able to watch many full games of Giannis and I can't say I am hugely impressed as the "for sure" next big thing. He really does not have a jumpshot yet. Great defender (had some amazing blocks), can get to the free throw line and in the lane, but he must absolutely develop a solid jumper and 3 point shot like Lebron did otherwise he is what he is.

I will also confess that I bought a lot of his cards during the hype at the beginning of the season (Like 50 BGS 9.5 Prizm RCs) and have lost about 40% of the value on those, so it's looking like I'll have to hang on to those for a lot longer than I had hoped lol.

Guys have to remember he's probably 2-3 years to hitting his prime. He got so hyped up that his stuff has no where to go but down unless his team wins a championship or he wins an MVP. Give him a couple more years. I think he's at least got an MVP in him. I mean until LeBron stops playing, because LeBron's MVP is LeBron.

There's no doubt the ability is there, he just really needs a jumper. If he can get one, he will be absolutely dangerous and for sure the next guy up for superstardom. I just watch him get the ball at the 3 point line all the time with no defender and he can't pull the trigger.

Can't believe he tanked so hard so fast. Seems like he should be worth more.

Not too surprising as he isnt in the MVP talk and his team is going nowhere this season. I think he may be at the point where he needs mvp awards and team success to start gaining traction again

Uh... What tanked? Silver Prizms? Those are down across the board after the hype died down as demand couldn't keep up with the high amount of supply.

For those people crying about a jumpshot every week...he shots more outside the paint than he has in the last 3 years, thus it's obvious he's working and improving on it. His last 2 games he shot 50% outside the paint and 3, so I don't know if you are actually paying attention to the games you're watching.

Also, when LeBron was 23 years old he shot 31.5% 3FG%. Giannis is shooting 31.3% 3FG%. LeBron now shoots 36% 3FG%. Have some proper perspective.

Oh he didn't tank? Care to buy all of my Non-Prizm Giannis RCs at 25% below where they were 4 months ago?

I own a ton. Across the board they are worth ~ half of what they were worth. Select, Prizm, Totally Certified, Titanium, Elite.... everything.

Unfortunately the hype either dies down or both players/teams keep exceeding which in this case was hard to do. Giannis is a superstar but his team isn’t a championship contender just yet. You also can’t compare prices relative to the absolute highs.... of you bought at all time highs then you were setting yourself up for disappointment if you planned on them continue to climb and sell quickly esp the “secondary” stuff.

For a potential MVP supe Star he’s a bargain IMO but ya hard to sustain what was going on earlier in the year :/

Come on man, they're not 50% of what they were. There's been a fall but I'll say it's probably closer to 30-35%.

There are only a few of those cards (like the Prestige RC) that has fell that much. But more than tanking, it feels like the hype has stabilized. I won't be shocked if this is the market for the near future, unless he wins the MVP.

OK ill be the target here and say it---I think he may be a bit overrated at this point and he plays on a team that is below average. I think his card prices need to stabilize a bit. I have several of his cards, and always questioned his long term health and future when buying him. I feel hes far from a no brain purchase at this point. He comes with a lot of risk in my opinion.

Seems like a really bad time to sell. He is sucking up the joint and his team sucks.

Hold off on that for a few weeks.

He's going to get a high upside matchup in the first round of the playoffs... likely against Cleveland, Boston or Philly.

Boston is beatable without Kyrie, Hayward and maybe Smart.

Philly is the hype team right now, and a huge performance and win would put the spotlight back on him

And beating the King and Cleveland, that would be huge and he'd with little doubt be the talk of the league.

Give it a few weeks, if they get past the first round it'll be big. If not, well then you're probably right for questioning things.

I liked Giannis a lot more when he was a point forward.

There are several possessions where Bledsoe runs the show and Giannis doesn’t get a touch. There’s 4 players in the starting lineup whom the primary way they contribute is having the ball in their hands...Giannis being the best.

The team isn’t constructed that well, but it’s stkll no excuse for Giannis...as he should be progressing to being more of a LeBron/Harden ball hog focal point of the offense where everything flows through him.

His cards will continue to slowly rise as we have 10 more years of seeing him develop his game and putting up stat stuffing stats and insane highlight reals.

I think the loss of Brogdon has really affected them more than I thought it would. Things flowed so better with him in the lineup even for Giannis. Even Delly was valuable in limited minutes. Beldsoe's not a true PG, more of a scoring guard. I haven't heard when Brogdon's coming back yet but not soon enough!
