But I just don't see it from a basketball standpoint in ways that move card prices. He just isn't yet on the same level offensively as other young players like Morant/Luka. Or for that matter guys like Coby White have had bigger nights so far this season.

Dude, I’m not trying to be offensive, but just to be transparent, you have awfully strange takes in this thread if you do own a bunch of Zion and actually want him to succeed. You take big shots against him and downplay his game and then backpedal. And then constantly deflect attention to your other investments. It’s not subtle. Root for him or don’t, but don’t masquerade as a fan.

The biggest thing holding Zion back isnt the other teams’ defense, it’s actually SVG’s weird rotations and the Pelicans guard play. And he STILL puts up numbers. I really hope they trade him if this is how they plan on utilizing him.

Oh I didn't realize this was just a fanclub page and there couldn't be actual conversation on the state of his game and cards. Maybe start a new thread where you cant say anything except zion is the greatest?

I can own a significant amount of zions and still be objective as to his play and where his card values are at.

Zion is a hybrid big man, likely closer to Shaq than Lebron.

He has very few of the same traits as either Ja or Luka. Might as well throw Trae into the comparison for good measure, all of which makes for a sloppy but all-too-frequent comparative analysis.

A hybrid? Not really in the same vein as shaq and LeBron in my opinion in that form in all due respect. Shaq was the most dominant big men of all time and LeBron is one of the greatest scores and all around players we have ever seen.

Zion has amazing hype in a great way...an unbelievable inside game...the "it" factor.....and hopefully can continue to develop...that's whats fun. Hopefully he just keeps building on that.

In the end, that's my perspective. Have a great night everyone and stay safe! Go zion!

Don't bother.

Obviously one of the ANTIFAt bois (also most likely PBM) masquerading as a pessimistic Z 'enthusiast.' Repeatedly berate his game then shield it behind a thinly veiled, once-every-ten-post half-hearted compliment, then seal it with a 'I even own XXX amount of his kards!' claim to solidify OG status.

So fresh. So new. So exciting.

His/her post history speaks for itself. Imagine being so insufferable about the success of a 20 year old, that you actually devote a chunk of your time stuck in analytical purgatory watching a kid you supposedly don't even like that much.

Not a single word when Ja/Lulu/Coby stinks it up tho.

Also; Z beasted again today.

Saw more glimpses of that Duke flashback game. Boi still got them bunnies.

They still don't know how to use him. And they still have no idea how to conduct the offense in the 4th quarter.

Iso, iso, iso, iso.

Can we add 'Zion is a power forward/small-ball center' to the thread title somewhere?

My Schwartz is bigger than yours.

Zion brings something to regular nba season games that I haven’t seen since Jordan. He is must see tv and brings casual fans to see what he will do next. People hated bonds but you tuned in that year to watch every at bat. People do the same with Zion. Will Zion get to that elite company? Maybe, but it is still early. Funny how people go negative if he has a 20/8 game. This team is still trying to work through a new system and I am sure svg is still trying to find out what he has on the team. There literally was no preseason. If they can cut down turnovers as a team, Bledsoe and lonzo stop chucking up bricks, they can be a solid team.
Enjoy a pure bb talent that will only get better.

If anyone wants off the train please feel free

Just finished watching the game. Why would you play Zion at the start of the 4th, pull him with 5 min left and then reinsert at 2 min? I hate SVG's rotations. Also, I laugh when I see him standing next to all coaches and NBA players. Is the guy a hobbit?

Bledsoe and Lonzo are just weak.

Lonzo - Can't let your little bro show you up... just can't.

Bledsoe - Clutch airball w/ the Pels down 6.

I can't stand it when Zion is establishing himself in the post and the guard on the wing isn't patient enough to let it develop. They swing it back to the middle right as Zion gets position. As bad as Lonzo and Bledsoe are, Zion missed 2-3 layups during crunchtime. He needs to do better as well.

I love watching his games because you never know when he is gonna fly past PJ Washington and smash it home or dive in the paint, catch a pass and finish a 2 handed slam + the foul. Lots of fun. I'd like to see him take at least 2 jumpers per game. Just to get in the rhythm and keep the D honest.

He is an incredible talent.
This has probably been mentioned many times before but I'm curious to see if his style of play affects his long-term hobby appeal.
When you consider other generational talents like MJ, Kobe and LeBron, he's just so different. They are fluid, well-rounded scorers who create their own shot off the dribble - especially when the game is on the line. Zion bullies his way to the bucket, jumps out of the gym to catch lobs and can't be stopped.
I'm fascinated to see if the hobby continues to accept him as the heir apparent.

Boy needs some diff shoes Dont think I've ever seen a guy hit the floor that many times. His stats would have been truly eye popping if he would stop missing easy layups. Reminds me of Sixers era Charles Barkley before chuck though he was a 3pt shooter Fun to watch, rest of the Pelicans not so much

Bledsoe and Ball are terrible. And only made worse with them on the floor together. Would be better if they put Josh Hart in the starting lineup beside which ever PG they want starting.

He's fun to watch for sure! If we were redrafting the NBA right now and I had the first pick, Zion would definitely be on my short list of potential selections. Which is not bad for a 20 year old. Can't wait to see how they build around him. I think a lot of guards would love to come and play with him since he commands so much defensive attention.

Zion is fun to watch. I'm sure he's a scary to dude to play against. if I were to guard him, I'll be just out of the way if he is driving in, that's pure muscle driving at you, probably feels like a garbage truck ramming at you. I'm bias though, lol broke collector so I can only afford his cheap RC cards. But it was fun. Hopefully I can get a serialized RC one of these days.

Good take.

We have so many people comparing his skills to LeBron or Luka or (cough) even Ja. This is asinine. I’m not sure these people have watched a game of basketball of a player they don’t own a Prizm PSA 10 of. They clearly didn’t watch him play a single game at Duke.

They. Do. Different. Things.

He’s a dominant scorer that hasn’t even fully been allowed to dominate yet (I could go off on this tangent for a while). And he’s 20. I’ll say it again for emphasis...TWENTY! Take a hard look at what most players were doing when they were 20. There are a couple very noteworthy exceptions and they are priced accordingly.

Zion is going to be an “other” in the hobby. He’s not MJ, Kobe, or LeBron. In a weird way, I think his freakish otherness will take on a value all of its own. He will have his own appeal, but it will be enhanced when people embrace who he is rather than who he isn’t. In fairness, it may take the basketball inept masses a little bit to catch on, but eye candy like that monster two-hand slam last night won’t hurt

I have yet to see someone produce a good comp for Zion. I'm going to throw one out there that is a pretty good one from my perspective, despite being a different sport(s) -- Bo Jackson.

- Athletically beyond his peers by several standard deviations [Check]
- A statistical monster [Check]
- Well known by the public / media savvy [Check]
- Visually dominant [Check]
- Health [TBD]

I think you are on to something here. The only thing I want to know is what is he going to break over his knee when he’s frustrated, SVG’s clipboard? I know he’s tempted haha.

But for real, Bo is a great comp.
