It's good that he walked off.

Bad that he instantly knew something was off.

Either way, this team needs to improve before playoffs start. Even if he misses the next 2 weeks and comes back, it's not good. Still hoping for the best.

Shake's got 8 and 4 in 18 minutes and 2-3 from 3, so that part of the team looks better.

Obvs the defense is still the opposite of how good it was most of the year.

Tobi tries to throw it over the top to Embiid, right into a double-team for a steal. Cmon man.

Nice +15 for Al in 22 minutes.

Embiid's slap off the backboard looked clean.

Refs always trying to sabotage a good highlight.

Woj reporting no swelling or pain in Simmons' knee.

Which makes me confused as to why he took himself out.

Either way, it sounds like the absolute worst is probably off the table. But you never know with knees.

It's been a rough restart for most of the 19-20 class including the almighty Ja and Zion. I suspect the revised format doesn't help, either. No more facing intentionally tanking squads or teams willing to lay down. They're getting the best every team has to offer.

His offensive usage is weird though. A few nights with only 6 or 7 shot attempts followed by 15 to 17. Been like that all year. I'm still bullish on him long term.

Doesn't look serious and other teams are resting their best players, I have no issues with caution when these games aren't all that important.

Agree completely, I’d love for him to start taking like 4 attempts from 3 a game.

I think guard play hasn’t helped much either. Napier is a more of a scorer so with him running the offense he doesn’t really flourish.

I would assume at worst with Beal and Wall the wizards are a 7/8 seed next year.

Sure it was against some scrubs, but nice to see Embiid take over and close out a game when he needed to.

You ain't lyin. There's zero structure to this offense or true distributors. They operate more like a pick up game.

I think the only question for Rui is whether he peaks as an Otto Porter type (certainly nothing wrong with that) or something really special. I'm betting on the latter. With a well above average midrange and 3 that will only get better, he's pretty much got all the physical intangibles to become a very good wing. Possibly even great.

Even my casual basketball friends are like "So memphis is out of the playoffs huh?" haha. With JJJ's injury this is to be expected. That team is SO young and the fact they got this close with that young of a core is impressive. Lillard/Booker/Ayton probably coming for that spot to be honest.

Memphis still has to secure the 8th spot by regular season's end, right? Meaning we could theoretically have a scenario where they drop to the 10th+ seed before the 'on the bubble' showdowns begin with the 8th and 9th seeds, correct? Looking at the standings that looks entirely plausible.

That's wild.

Might have the best young core in the league at the moment. I think it was a combination of a bit of overachieving and having one of the easiest first half schedules. Was not convinced they'd secure the 8th spot before the shutdown based on their SOS and pre-covid slide.

Still very impressive for being in the west with a rookie point guard.

Definitely up there, depending on how Jaren's injury shakes out. I've got the Heat's young core at 1 with Bam being the same age as Clarke but you really can't go wrong. The west is stacked with young talent. Stacked.

They had a great run and it makes sense that they were going to get knocked out by someone with a bit more experience like Dame Time or this rising Suns squad which is my secret hope because I love Suns fans best fan base in the NBA. I think it's good for the NBA to have some of these more experienced teams in the 1st round anyways as they'll be a much tougher out and make for better basketball (especially the Blazers).

The Lakers just have no one to put on guards right now.

They are rather fortunate the Clippers don't have a really great 2-way guard.

I think pre-COVID some site gave them only a 40% chance or something of retaining the 8th seed, so you're not alone in that thought. The Spurs loss to the Nuggets gives the Blazers a game cushion on the Spurs in the 9th seed. Blazers play those same Nugs tomorrow on a back to back for Denver. Wild that tomorrow night the Blazers could be within 0.5 games of Memphis...

Absolutely.

He did go 44-21 against the Pacers, not his fault his starting backcourt combined for 4 points that game and Kork missing all 4 shots ugh.

Totally forgot about the Heat. BAM > anyone on Memphis currently, imo. Mini prime Dwight that moves like a wing and still gets assists? Yes pls.

I can't believe Phoenix is on the list as well. They're legit taking out some amazing teams right now.

No replacement for experience, and Blazers have it. Plus we haven't even seen vintage Dame Dolla yet....

Impressed by OKC today. They look like one of those sqauds nobody respects until they make a surprise appearance the conference finals.

OKC is gritty and well rounded, they will definitely be a tough out and they have the CP3 factor. Lakers looking anemic tonight, LeBron and AD both in the 30 percent range from the field...ouch.
