Up a couple runs, 2 runners on, 3-1 count, who would you rather have at the plate than Randy? No one, at least not tonight haha. It was weird watching, because it felt almost sure even before it happened that if he got a fastball he would drill it. And then...

And another HR after was also awesome!

Randy Land sounds pretty cool. If I were still taking work trips to the Tampa area I'd totally try to catch one of those games.

Do you think we're going to start seeing "A-rise-in-rena" pretty soon (unless it's already happening)?

No apparently his cards won't sell for anything until he's been elected to the HOF. I don't mind though, that keeps them cheap.

The Yankees clearly weren’t fans of Randy Land

I remembered I had this card and finally dug it out today to add to my keepers. Nothing fancy, but I like the blue sparkle. What other cards does he have showing his arms crossed pose?

Bump for outstanding all-out clutch catch against the Yankees.

The two areas where I'd hoped he would improve this year are not swinging at as many sliders off the plate and consistent fielding. He's done both so well -- respect for working so hard at his craft!

Exactly except he can't make Hall with under 10 WAR being 28. He'll never be worth anything but he's a fun guy to collect for dirt cheap

Except that some guy named Ichiro also had around the same WAR at around the same age. And he'll likely make the HOF. Also, you don't necessarily need to be inducted in order to be worth something. There are some guys like Bo Jackson and Dale Murphy who've achieved a certain cult status among fans which is why their stuff has still retained some value. Randy may or may not make the HOF. But if he continues to entertain and be the clutch performer that he is, you can bet that his legend will grow. And so would the value of his collectibles along with it.

Great response. Except Ichiro. One guy in the last 150 years of professional baseball.

The legend of the .270 20 HR hitter! Ka-POW! He has continued to entertain since 2021 and yet his Sapphire rookies are worth 12 bucks(after peaking over 200).

Nowhere but flat to down buddy. That shouldn't matter. Collect him on the dirt cheap, forget about the prices.

You sound exactly like the guys who had fun tearing down Ohtani c. 2019-2020 after having already made their final opinions on him. Well, all I could say to that is that we all know what had transpired since then.

In any case, Randy's allure is mostly predicated on his ability to deliver in the clutch. Adding to that, it appears that he's only just now starting to put it altogether this season. But then again, who knows. After all, we've got BBases31 who can accurately predict the future outcomes of players' careers as well as their hobby status (even though Randy's prices have seen a small uptick over the past month).

I was the one arguing with those guys and buying Ohtani in 2019!

Can Arozarena's cards go up in short bursts when he goes on a sick run? Of course. But they are on a terminal flat to downward trend. 28 with the very low WAR number and no one single standout aspect(as opposed to him doing everything on offense well) means he's going nowhere price-wise. He's a really fun player to watch. And a very good one. If he was 25 with the same stats this would be a whole different conversation. But he's 28. And with that goes his hobby relevancy

I was a bit surprised to read that he's the only player to ever start his career with 3 straight 20/20 seasons. He'd be having a heck of a year if it weren't for his brutal July.

Im not sure. Normally I would agree with this, but he is a pretty unique case because of his journey and that story is going to be told a lot come the playoffs if he shows up.

Using an example, had he won the HR Derby, and the Rays are in the playoffs, he had a chance to make a rise in the hobby. ESPN filmed a short doc on his plight to get here this year and it hasn't aired yet. Others will tell that story as well and I believe that brings more relevancy.
