This mf a known habitual ER line stepper.

But a confirmed abductor?

Hopefully he has his reasons.

He has never cared about his physical health. Ever.

He’s had nothing but lower body injuries since being in the league because he’s overweight

People have said year after year he’s in shape and year after year he proves that he’s not. He has never been in NBA shape and he never will be

What a waste of a career.

The Pelicans should seriously consider just waiving him at this point. His last 2 years are not fully guaranteed so they can just pay his salary this year and move on. He has negative trade value so that’s not an option either

It’s so obvious in retrospect but there were so many signs early in his career that he just never cared about basketball. He doesn’t have the mental to be great.

This happens with a lot of guys but Zion coasted his whole life by being so physically dominant and as soon as he hit any adversity in the league he just gave up.

He’s gonna collect his hundred million and he will be forgotten in time, or only remembered as a massive failure

The thing I'll remember him for (other than being constantly injured in the NBA) is when his shoe exploded during a Duke game.

I don't think that's true. It's just that he cared about it when it was too late.

It does bring up a question. In retrospect, do you still draft him at 1 and live with the criticism / fan revolts for a couple years? Almost feels like the Pelicans had no other choice and was hoping his approach changed.

I mean, people have said this literally every season. Oh he cares now, new year new Zion, he's in shape etc....

He's never changed. This year he hasn't looked interested in playing at all and clearly still isn't in shape. Jogs up ands down the court doing cardio

Comes in, is a catalyst for prices exploding, flames out.

Thanks, Zion!

A man with less integrity, with hands made of a lesser materiel than diamond, and with smaller nads would have sold when he had his annual hot Z summer sweaty bod photo shoot release. But I am none of those things.

*It's totally not that I'm way too lazy to bother.

Who would trade for Zion? The Nets? Hornets? Some other trash franchise with no hope of winning?

Would have to be a crappy team just looking for some marketing opportunity I would think. Not much trade value, at least I wouldn't give up much. His salary guarantees are predicated on weigh ins and game played the previous year. He has two more years on his current contract.

20% if he passes all six weigh-ins
40% plays 41 games
20% plays 51 games
20% plays 61 games

this is such a low bar for an NBA player its sad...

but he has negative trade value at this point I would think the Pelicans would have to attach Trey or Herb just to move Zion

I am sure the Players Association would have a grievance, but what if the Pelicans sit him enough games so he doesn't make some of those games played thresholds. They could get lucky and he fattens up and misses a weigh in. Would cut the salary down for trade value. He has already missed like 12 games, with another 10 if he out the full three weeks. That means he misses the top 20% threshold. "Find" another 10 games of load management which seems likely with back to backs and he is only looking at 60% guaranteed next year. Any other significant injury and the 41 games start being in doubt. At that point, you just cut him and be done at the end of the year.

His legend shall be forever tattooed on the annals (pause) of time. How many kids will even remember or care about Jaylen Johnson in 50 years?

His postcareer xxx/podcasting/Food Network hosting options are infinite. Couldn't give that incel Kenny Smith's autos away 15 years ago.

Imagine selling Oprah now.
