I sold 50% stake in one Mahomes card (Gold Vinyl) at 525K valuation compared to 250K valuation in April (5 months ago). I paid 15K for that card two years ago. I paid $7500 for my XRC Gold in 2019 and sold it for 193K via Goldin recently. I still have 3-CLR NT RPA/99 BGS 9, two contenders Red Zone Auto BGS 9 and few others. No one has to copy anyone. Everyone's financial situation is different and one has to do what works best for himself/herself. And no one can time the market perfectly!

It was a joke and more of a compliment to the moves made by pcptrade.

He was way ahead of the curve. By the time we learn his move, it's usually
too late in my opinion. He is very astute with the market. He hasn't just
done it with Mahomes.

I'm starting to think we all take Brady for granted because we get to see him play every week. When he finally retires, everyone will have a reality check that what we've witnessed over the last 20 plus years was truly special and will never be done again. Just the dominance, the adversity, the records, the person, everything. From a card standpoint, his cards are only going up, no doubt.

It's really silly at this point, but I still don't feel like the market has reflected his true worth, especially when I can still pick up unopened 2000 boxes in line with some modern unopened football boxes.

Especially if you consider that a majority of his rookies are numbered, which really emphasizes the finite supply. I think demand will continue to rise while the supply stays small. His higher end rookies (Contenders/SP authentic/spx) are all out of reach for probably 95% of people, and his gem bowman chrome rookies will be out of range for most people sooner rather than later.

And what a huge pickup PCP, that card is truly a piece of history. I think it was a great move diversifying some of your cards into Brady.

Jeez...is there downside for the buyer if it turns out to be altered? Or can it just be returned to Probstein, in which case the grading fees are paid but the card can be refunded.

It just seems strange that the seller wouldn't get the card graded themselves before selling. Would guess even a low grade would still have led to a much higher price given where the market is.

I think that may depend on whether the seller can afford or want to foot the bill for grading a high value card like this. I completely understand the situation. As much as I would love to resubmit my Champ Tix for a possible.5 bump and auto grade, I’m just not willing to pay PSA xx thousands of dollars to regrade something I already paid them $30 for 15+ years ago. Yes, I’m being cheap. For another $30, I’d do it, but otherwise, it’s just a lot of money I’m not willing to give PSA at this time.

I follow the hobby because it’s interesting, but haven’t been involved in it for over 10+ years. I am neither a collector or investor at this point. Don’t have a lot of Brady cards like many on this board do, but I’m grateful I hung onto mine. Seller might be in the same boat.

Good points you made. I would leave the grade alone because more than likely the grade would go down just because the iconic nature /value of the card. However I would check to see what they would charge you just to grade the auto. It may only be a few thousand and in that case I would do it. Over $5000 I would pass. If you never plan to sell I would leave it alone. I will say this FedEx is the only way to ship it. No insurance and next day air. I did it twice and it was ok.

when I see a 2019 or 2020 prizm football box going for $1250-$1400 (or higher) and then I see a box of 2000 certified/prestige/quantum leaf for the same price or less, it's hard not to buy the 2000 box.



Yes, some can argue it's a different animal, different rookies, etc.. but it's hard for me NOT to go back to unopened 2000 boxes.
