Not purposely being contrarian, as I like your post, but for a guy who earns $MMs... how can he even care about an additional few hundred $$?

I am dubious that he cares that much, as the amount of $$ we are talking here is just not worth his effort
It's an ego thing. Money is not the goal. It's for him to see how much "power" he has on the market/prices. He likes to flex a bit after he sees cards rise because of his "investment advice".

People who can't/won't think for themselves and want someone to feed them "investment advice"...especially from a guy with lots of $$$$$.

Purely a guess, but given he built his following initially around his parent's business (Wine Library) through Wine Library TV, I'd guess he targets upwardly mobile 20-40 somethings who are probably higher income and like to buy luxury consumables.

I used to watch Wine Library TV like 10+ years ago, and he was personally really into sports, so think he probably bled over into that passion, and brought his followers with him.

Totally... my point was whether he was actually buying the cards in bulk, or not...

He's buying...or more specifically, his company is buying. They just stash them in their high rise office and hope to sell some down the line for $$$$.

It’s a catch 22, on the one hand my collection value goes up but on the other I enjoy adding to it and don’t want to pay a fortune. Hopefully he stays away from rarer items.

US300 PSA 10s have been undervalued for a bit now. It was a matter of time, really.

That's what sheep do.

He's smart though. Keeping it very simple with basic flagship rookies. Reason why he's not going with chrome, refractors, foils and such. Although he is buying up 1st chrome auto's too.

How do you determine if a card is "undervalued"? This is not a leading question... it is something I genuinely struggle with

I collect Acuna, Soto, Devers, Bregman, Bellinger, Arraez...

These guys have prices all over the map... I wish I had a good rule of thumb on what they SHOULD BE vs. WHAT THEY ARE

Soto cards should be trending higher. There is no reason for them to be at the same level they were at the end of the season. Soto was a beast last year and won a World Series. If the cards haven’t moved up since his WS win, you can count that they are due for a jump. It’s not a matter of will it, but a matter of when.

yesterday I looked for auctions, hoping many of the wins were there, where you can see who won

but most are BIN, so I don't know a way to do it

TBP will disagree as US250 is the third flagship release for Acuna.

I have to say that US300 is probably the best looking card in the set. If these skyrocket z I might be able to pay off my house.

Believe me ik exactly what TBP will say. It was just to throw a little bait in the water.
