Hit an estate sale today. Picked up a complete working Apple IIe computer with two floppy drives, apple dot matrix printer, all original manuals for $20 total. Also got a big stack of John Deere tractor service manuals and operators manuals for $1 each. Most of those will sell for $50-$75 each. Couple other odds and ends but those were the better buys.

I had a good John Deere find today as well. Picked up 4 or 5 jackets from the 1970s and 80s as well as some windbreakers from the same era. 3 of the windbreakers came apart when I washed them but only paid 50 cents each for them so I will salvage the patches and throw the rest away, still should make a couple of hundred on the rest.. Same sale got a paid af barely used Birkenstock sandals for 1.00 and couple of caps that should bring 15 to 20 each.

Decent Thrift store find for $1...also found signed Lance Armstrong, dick Vitale, Jason Whitlock & Jim Kelly (but the auto is scratched out on the Kelly for some reason)...

Best part is another reseller was there scanning barcodes...I am 100% positive she scanned all of these and passed on them

I love the book scanners they will pass right over very good books simply because it has no bar code. Bought one Thursday for 3.00 that 3 scanners went right by. It sold this morning for 40.00

Speaking of Goodwill, what is everyone's take on the bagged toys.

Was at one over the weekend and saw a toy inside one of the hanger bags for $2.99, it was half price Sat. so $1.50. The item I saw was the only item I was interested, but passed on it, mainly because I did not want the other 10 - 15 items in the bag.
A little later my daughter ended up back in the toy area. While watching her, I watched a guy going through all the bags, and at one point saw him walking away with that specific item in hand heading towards the clear bags that you use for the bins.

Now, I can understand buying the whole bag if that 1 item is worth it. I didn't look it up.

So does everyone think it is just par for the course that pulling a single item or 2 out of the sealed bags is normal practice, or is it wrong and one should buy the whole bag?

Maybe I have been going about this all wrong. I always see bags with holes in them.

What you witness was theft. Nothing else really to analyze about it.

he technically didn't steal anything. He took it from the prepackaged bags of toys, and placed it into one of the you pick how many individual pieces you want. Instead of paying $1.50 for the bag, he placed the item along with 4 other items into the other bag and paid .50¢ for the new bag with the 5 items that he wanted.

Its still possibly considered theft by price alteration. I doubt Goodwill will worry too much about it though.

Now if it was at a Goodwill Outlet where you pay by weight I would have no issue with the bags being opened. I myself have taken specific parts of items off broken items in order to keep from getting the broken part.

The only time I have been to a Goodwill Outlet I watched a guy with what liked an outdoor mounted light. He really wanted a certain part, and was just standing there hitting it with a pole. I can hear glass shattering as this guy is just standing there whacking at it over and over and no one stopped him.

Thats why you wear gloves in those bins. Cut the crap out of my hand once in one. Thats a little extreme. I was referring to like taking ink cartridges out of printers or like once found an old GI JOE vehicle that was missing its wheels but some of the pieces that snap off were still there I took them and left the shell.

I found this exact crystal decanter and glasses set at a restore for $25. Nit sure if it was a great deal, but i was pretty pleased. No chips or scratches. Nice heavy glasses.

Hit a nail in a toolbelt in one of ours, thankfully just had a tetanus shot.

If it was prepackaged it was meant to be sold as a lot. Hence the whole theft extravaganza.

I saw a guy at the goodwill outlets reach into a bin and grab a razor blade. Sliced him good, with a lot of blood. But I also saw a woman open a purse and pull a ziplock bag full of 14k Gold. $1.75 per pound lol.
