What happened in his order is TERRIBLE for PSA if more than the armchair blowout crowd knew about it. The odds of that happening defy any objective inquiry.

I'm being extra picky on my to be graded at a cheaper later date pile. It was not a big deal eating $10 on a 9 but it's not gonna be fun eating $25 or $30 which is probably the starting point for value next year.

Although this is true some people will try to convince themselves that their card that looks like a 9 can gem.

It all just takes experience my first order which was mostly late 90s Kobe rookies got one gem.

Modern cards that I sent recently (4 orders) got 10 of 12 PSA 10

You would think that's the case but I see so many recent court kings cards that have so much white on the edges get PSA 10.

I grade because it sells but I hate the whole concept.

It's all subjective you can get five cards to gem by one grader and the same five cards can be a 9 with another grader.

Scans of two random 9s and the two 8s of the Bichettes for anyone who wants to see them. All the other 9s I lotted up to dump on ebay and took a photo of everything so I didn't scan them. Fwiw, the white spot on the top edge of one of the 8s isn't actually on the card, so I'm guessing it's a scanner glare.

Obviously, not everything can be seen from the scans, but I do feel PSA was significantly tougher than the norm on these.

Shouldn't, even if the rest of the card was perfect. It reminds me of people who say, "Yeah, it's mint except for the crease"

What's the cert numbers? Until recently, some 9s do have whites on the corners.

For me, "white" and "damaged" are different to me. A damaged corner is an actual "DING" on the corner. White is just wear, nothing "damaged"...

So, it's ok for 9 or 10 to have one sorta white corner. But, if it's actually DINGED, then no, that's an 8 or below.

Agreed...will have to see what JWBlue is seeing in terms of 9s with damaged corners(s)
