There was a run on Russ Chrome RC PSA 10s yesterday... 100, 100, and 112 being the last sales.

Wilson's season is hilarious in a way.

Statistically speaking, he's having a fantastic season. On pace to have a very successful season. However, ESPN's made up QBR says he's bottom tier basically.

Vs the Vikings, his QBR was 32. I find that sort of ridiculous in a way given how he had no turnovers, a touchdown, 77 completion percentage, only 2 sacks. Plus, a dropped TD pass in the end zone. A 32 is one of the worst grades, Zach Wilson for the season has a QBR of 30.

That said, I think it's funny how well his stats look, but in reality he's like in that 12-15 range for QB play. freaking pulling out magic throws with the game on the line to win games these past 2 weeks.

On the bright side, QBR has become any easy litmus test for how intelligent collectors are.

When someone’s first move is to point to QBR and start screaming then you know they are someone who can be safely ignored.

His talents have clearly eroded but like an aging boxer he still has a puncher's chance. Still good for a deep throw or two or a wildly improbable, "low chance at completion" TD.

He's lived and died on that for 10 years. Last two weeks he's lived on it.

What was it? Supposedly the lowest-chance-of-completion touchdown that's been recorded?

Because nothing is impressive these days unless it can be quantified.

(Sports historian Allen Guttman punching air right now.)

He has made an art out of those throws over the course of his career.

In this case, yes.

From my lecture slides on Sports & Religion/Secularism:

Guttmann: "One of the most important functions of the bureaucracy is to see that the rules and regulations are universal...The International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) was founded in 1913 and began in the very next year to publish its official list of world records. But the very concept of a record, which is the last and most uniquely modern characteristic of modern sports, depends upon the penultimate characteristic—quantification...If one can throw, one can count. One must count...Modern sports are characterized by the almost inevitable tendency to transform every athletic feat into one that can quantified and measured.”

Guttmann notes that gymnastics were almost excluded from the modern Olympics until they invented a scoring system for judges to quantify performances.

Guttmann: ”The modern record is the child of the modern mania for quantification...It is the marvelous abstraction that permits competition not only among those gathered together on the field of sport but also among them and others distant in time and space....it is a stimulus to unimagined heights of achievement and a psychic barrier which thwarts our efforts, it is an occasion for frenzy, a form of rationalized madness, a symbol of our civilization."

Guttmann: "This is a difficult notion to grasp and perhaps an unpalatable one, but it may be that the dynamics of athletic achievement commence with the secularization of society. When qualitative distinctions fade and lose their force, we turn to quantitative ones. When we can no longer distinguish the sacred from the profane or even the good from the bad, we content ourselves with minute discriminations between the batting average of the .308 hitter and the .307 hitter. Once the gods have vanished from Mount Olympus or from Dante's paradise, we can no longer run to appease them or to save our souls, but we can set a new record. It is a uniquely modern form of immortality.”

Helped his team with a 17 point win, no interceptions.

Against the #1 defense btw.

I mean 13-22 for 134 yards, less than 60% completion rate. No interceptions, but lost one of his two fumbles.

Denver's D with 3 more takeaways.

Let's give credit where it is actually due: Denver's defense has regained last season's form.

From 1-5 to 6-5 . . . . Let’s ride!

Beat the #1 defense today.

Also not sure if you are a Ryan fan (assume so) but he was really good on the Jags Texans call today. Great future career and much less annoying than others.

Made an incredible throw, actual two one was dropped by Sutton, in the end zone.

The one fumble was barely a fumble as he was going down on a scramble run, defender made a good play. Other fumble was a bad snap, but they always get credited to the QB.

Like I said, zero turnover worthy passes, made good audibles, and this was against the best defense in the NFL.

he isn't dog poopo like last year at least, but he certainly isn't a top tier talent either.

Had some really nice, drive extending (and a TD) runs in the first half too. Very active in the pocket avoiding pressure (one sack).
