I agree, and unlike basketball, the base is actually much closer to the silver print run. It will never pass silver prices, but the gap should be a bit narrower.

In my opinion, the desirability of the true silver refractor field level will continue to significantly outweigh that of the base field level, despite the pop difference. I know the pop on the base field level is lower than that of the true silver, but I just don’t think demand will be similar over the long term. With that being said, I see both of them having nice pricing upside given the significantly lower population relative to the optic and prizm. I wish I would’ve picked up more...

At this point I think it’s a no-brainer to buy these field levels because they are being pumped so much that they will for sure see a price hike. I do get to the Silvers are good looking cards. However, I never have understood the logic that something should be valuable like the base, just because it is low pop. There are dozens of Mahomes rookies that are low pop simply because people haven’t submitted them. I know these have a little print run I get it, but it’s basically just a chrome card. But again, I believe they will skyrocket because so many people are talking about them and historically this board has never Been wrong with the pump is strong. And I’m not accusing you, onepocketj, Because I know you don’t roll like that. And I genuinely am happy when all any Mahomes stuff goes up.

Yeah, my point was not that base should be worth as much as Silver. Simply that these cards have not moved at all compared to the Prizm and Optic. I know the Prizm being stamped on the back of all of them has hindered them to some extent. But the fact that the base was going for half of the Prizm with a fraction of the print run is just crazy. Select isn't an off brand. It's widely regarded as #3 behind Prizm and Optic.

Thoughts on Select Field Level:

Pros: -Great Design. This card looks very nice
-Limited print run. They didn't make a ton of these, which means there aren't
enough to go around.
-'Field Level' is a recurring theme in Select now.

Cons: -It's his 3rd Select card made. This is pretty much it on the cons side for this one, but it's big. If you count be release date, then card number, you have XRC, Concourse, then Field Level. I think because of this it will have trouble ever standing out as 'The' Select card to have. We know which Prizm card is his flagship rookie, we know which Optic card is his Flagship rookie.... I just think that the Field Level will have trouble being viewed that way.

IMO this hurts its mainstream appeal to the masses, but is great for the true collector who appreciates such nuances.

Anyways, just my take

Yes, $5K is a good price. Chances that it is trimmed is low in my opinion, a lot of these grade around mint.

They rarely are popping up on ebay too. I think I'm going to get a Base Select PSA 10, but I'm just not sure about the Field Level. I have my eyes on one card, but don't know if I want to get it or not still.

Yes, Premier Level. I consider that the base RC lol I guess.

I mean, I'm with you though on the Select. I want to try to keep it more quiet, but eventually it will pick up steam. The pop reports scream it.

Field levels are tough to gauge, and unless I'm missing something, a total of 6 are on eBay right now.

They both say Field Level Prizm. Premier is the same in 2017

I #@#@#@#@ you not, it was the one destroyed pack in the box, granted there were a couple other packs where cards were damaged, but the Mahomes was absolutely destroyed, what are the chances? What's an acceptable level of damage on something like that, I'd say less than 10% of the packs were damaged and none of them were quite as bad as the pack the Mahomes was in.

Mahomie mail day! Been awhile since I picked up some 2017 rooks. Luckily, I picked these up before the contract announcement and the sellers all delivered...Phoenix has been growing on me, so had to fill in some PC voids. Pretty excited about the NT auto too. Not the fanciest one, but it’s my first NT Mahomes auto
