Nope! I mentioned him on twitter, but surely he gets thousands of tweets and mentions all the time. He won't care though - he is not a fan of cardboard

I would absolutely love to have one of my cards in your collection. It would truly be a thrill for others to be able to pickup something just so it "lives on" so to speak. Please feel free to check out my collection and let me know what you want!

I read your OP early on, so if you already edited it please ignore. Humble suggestion though that you add the above quote into the OP though. As someone who gets a literal huge smile on my face whenever I see a new Mouschi thread has been created, my initial response to reading the OP was more saddening than it needed to be. Maybe because I'm bad at reading, but I spent most of the time reading it as if you were leaving the entire hobby for good. You're a face of this hobby for many of us. A reminder of the good side of the hobby. It took a little too long in the OP to get to the following statement that put my mind at ease a little: Quote:
I'm glad this decision is making you happy. Sounds like you've thought it through. I'm glad you're holding on to some of the custom stuff, and cheap but memorable stuff. My initial response to people looking to sell off collection is to hold on to the super rare/unique stuff until you're absolutely sure you won't regret it in 5-10 years, but you seem like a smart enough dude to have that all figured out. Looking forward to the next article from ya! In terms of the inexplicable responses to the very minor religious comments in OP...c'mon people. Cardboard forum. Take a breathe. |

OriginalEGG - thanks for the feedback! I went ahead and wrote that at the top after hearing what you had to say about it.

Will do! If there is one takeaway for me from these past 24 hours (and there have been many) is that there are some folks out there that are interested in reading the book. That truly helps me to keep grinding at it.

For the most part, about my experiences in the hobby, behind the scenes stuff, etc. Even if no one reads it, it'll be good to have something to give to my son

Tanner, thank you for opening up and allowing us all to follow your story, it's been a fun ride. Can i buy card? I would just like to have a Canseco card from the Mouschi collection. don't really care which. I think it would be neat to have something from your collection. if possible, PM me your address and I can send some cash /paypal and you can send me a card back.

Maybe you should stamp one of each base card with a Mouschi logo and put them up for sale individually. That way your collection will be traceable over time.

Thank you for sharing!
In all my various collecting pursuits, the hunt has become far more enjoyable than "collecting" Most of my regrets have to do with buying hoards. Rarely do I have regret selling. A picture of the trophy and the associated story will always remain. While dabbling in coins, PCGS boxes allowed for 20 graded coins. Collectors looking to downsize or specialize in a niche spawned the term Box of Twenty. My goal by this time next year is to limit my collection to 20 pcs. I might still have a million to unload on ebay... but 20 is my goal. |

I feel the same - as a Darryl Strawberry collector was hoping he made an appearance on a card at some point with Jose but he apparently never did. Will look for another angle

I think any collector who has been collecting for awhile can relate. I started back up in 04/05 as I found the numbered parallel thing to be exciting. I didn't realize that was going to be the way it would be from there on out. But it has. Now a card numbered to 25 isn't a big deal. Even 1/1s aren't. You miss one, there will be another in the next release.
So I finally slowed down this year because I am embracing what I've known for awhile, Topps isn't going to slow down, or even give a specific release a life span so you can feel some sort of completion. So I am enjoying the best of both worlds, still collecting but not as fervently. And I may even go cold turkey like Tanner at some point. Thanks for sharing. |

Having said that, I have also deleted most of the replies that revolved solely around religion. Either promoting or mocking. Let's let the op speak for itself and if you want to continue that discussion, please take it to pm. Quote:

Just a guess, but to answer some people why Tanner posted about the Canseco collection going, going, going, is soon to be gone is that he said nothing and just stopped posted about Canseco, people would be DMing or wondering. He can put it to bed now.

Obsession is a tough drug to overcome.
At one point owned 60+ real photo postcards, art, and other postcards centering around the Jack Johnson vs James J Jeffries fight in 1910. Still regret stopping but at $100 to $500 a pop the rare ones were going to be tough. I like to cherry pick coin varieties on Ebay. One day on a slow late afternoon at work, sat down and decided to look for a particular Morgan Dollar VAM in which only nine graded mint state. Found one in literally within the first half dozen viewed. Over the six months... looked at 70,000+ ebay auctions chasing for more. Day and night. At home and work... Found two more and owned three of the 12 mint copies, but could not find that elusive MS 65 I wanted. The financial crisis took care of the postcard collection. Boredom and the huge monetary gain took care of the coins. Prospects are the new obsession for me... Last edited by unclemonkey; 07-01-2018 at 03:27 PM. |

Good luck Tanner....
Do what makes you happy... always enjoy reading your stuff.. But coming from someone who has built and sold collections then built again... I highly recommend selling half now... then a little more then a little more... You never know how you will feel in 6 months from now... Lots of stuff is hard to get back.... Just a thought |

My collection goal is very simple with Griffey and I have clear "collection complete" stopping point. So while I would never want to compete with other Canseco collectors for one of your top end cards because of the allure of having a piece of your collection, a base/common of yours with essentially a 1/1 stamp showing it was yours, would be very appealing at the right price point. |
