So now it's Brady's fault he's in the AFC east? Should the Pats re-locate to LA?

This argument is ridiculous..... The Patriots still have to beat the best teams in the AFC to get to the superbowl.

If the AFC is so weak why aren't other teams doing what the Patriots are doing?

Because they don’t cheat.

Did you forget your Patriot Hater handbook at home? I’ve got the thing memorized so I can anticipate their go to sayings.

Unless Tom Brady starts playing defense as well as offense, GTFO with comparing him to a basketball player.

The thread is about greatest athlete ever..... clearly referencing other sports

And if it's indeed football only..... jerry rice was a 10 time first team all pro who holds every single record

Peyton manning was an 8 time first team all pro and 5 time MVP.... multiple Super Bowls

Jim brown was a first team all pro every year of his career except one

There is more to the equation than just rings, especially in football

Arguments can be made..... Brady is right at the forefront though; obviously

I think we can at least all agree Brady isn't even the best QB in the league anymore. He's 41 though so it's understandable.

I would vote Karch Kiraly. Anyone who has seen him play on the sand knows what I am talking about.

I'm gonna grab my pair of 2000 Brady shoes and hit the football field with my...self......

I enjoyed it when Brady and Company toward the world as part of the Olympic Dream Team in 2002.

UGGs wouldn't be where they are today without Brady.

Brady won 3 Championships in a row, then retired for a few years to play baseball and came back to win 3 more.

Every kid wants to be like Brady.

In 2038, Brady will have his own line of UGG's and millions of people will be lining up for them on release day.

So a clear-eyed view of the situation would be:

Tom Brady is one of the greatest competitors to play a particular sport, but is not the greatest athlete of all-time = blind hatred and jealousy

Tom Brady is the greatest athlete of all-time = the truth and nothing but the truth

Is this the position being staked out here?

He is not the best athlete, as stated before the best athlete is going to not be in the 4 main sports. Also don't sleep on tennis as far as endurance, Roger Federer as far as dominance.

If we are just talking championships than Bill Russell.

If you want to talk about dominance than Wilt Chamberlain. I know basketball was "different" back in the day but they made rules to make it harder for him to score. The rules now make it easier for players to score. 50.4 points ppg, think about that for a second, also that record won't ever be broken.

Also I saw an interesting video on youtube (not sure of accuracy) but it talked about him playing against pros at 16 and dominating them too.

Jordan and Wilt > Brady if we're looking at the athletic perspective.

Meaning high sustained level of play and conditioning. But both Jordan and Wilt were far superior from a raw athletic standpoint. They were freaks of nature in terms of speed and agility in addition to being phenomenal at their sports. Wilt was Olympian level.

Brady is not a phenomenal athlete from the straight dictionary definition. But his IQ, longevity, and clutch factor sets him apart from his modern day football peers.

Thorpe was a 2 sport beast and was Bo before Bo, back before carb counting and advanced sports nutrition science were a thing. There's so many ways to interpret this.

You can argue that he's the greatest player of all-time, I still have MJ but Tom Brady has done and still doing more with less and I don't mean his teammates. He was not given superior athletic ability (no super strong arm, fast running legs, etc) but has taken what he has and used it to the best of his ability, better than anyone ever. He has outplayed every guy he's faced who has had some king of superior talent about them. The guy has just uses the tools he was given and maxes them out. No other play has done that other than Jordan. Tom Brady is Goat of the NFL.

If Brady loses tomorrow (which he most likely won't), can we say that he's similar to Lebron in that respect. Has been a lock to make the big game for most of his career but has been anything but unbeatable in it.

If we're talking about overcoming physical limitations, I'd argue Mantle and Ruth were far superior.

Ruth was built like John Goodman. Both Mantle and Ruth were well documented partygoers and drinkers during their playing days with livers like a black catchers mitt. Neither did much if any off the field exercising or training at all.

Lawrence Taylor was drinking and doing 8 balls of coke and went onto become one of the most dominant defensive players of all time and one of only 2 defensive mvp's in the history of the game.

IMO there is not GOAT of the NFL, maybe position, but not NFL. Its such a team game and you rely on so much more for success. Other sports it’s different, you play both sides, and you can carry a team more. Granted Tom plays the most important position, so saying he’s the GOAT QB, I wouldn’t argue that really.

So IMO, he's not in the discussion....
Laughing at these names and then saying brady isnt in this discussion.
