Player selection matters....there's simply not a whole lot of demand for non-superstars outside of the supporters of players' individual clubs.

And with players switching clubs so frequently, demand for individual players is hard to sustain.

And own goals like doing Buffon with PSG instead of Juventus certainly doesn't help....

I'm a huge soccer fan, but I can count the number of active players I'd want cards of on one hand....

A new on demand B&W soccer set is out. 30 base cards plus one auto and two inserts. $40 seems a bit steep unless there are decent autographs. Is anyone ordering?

1st impulse was to get 3...probably only get one if I order on time. The autographs seem interesting to me. I do miss the variations that the MLB B&W cards have and I LOVE those. A soccer set could have amazing cards with the colorful stands in the background if they did all the variations.

Kompany and Ligit are solid this week.
I’m looking but don’t see last weeks PR yet.

This weeks print run hasn't been released yet. But I bet it's an improvement with Gigi (even if he's in a PSG uni) and Van Dijk. This week might be the first time we see numbers dip below 500. I like De Ligt and Kompany. But the won't bring in the numbers like Hazard would. If we don't see Hazard next week, we may have to wait for him in a Real uni.

No cards from any Serie A teams yet...

We seem to be falling into a range now.

This weeks predictions.

This week's sales finally have at least 1 card dip below 500.

Because of this, we see a big named player post on Thursday.

1) Ronaldo or Hazard- I'm leaning toward this being Ronaldo week. No Serie A players yet. Why not have the first one be the most well known? Plus, after a few weeks of slumping sales, Ronaldo will boost interest again. Hazard has to be a possibility every week until July 1.

2) Retired player- With my Ronaldo prediction, I doubt they do a player who can generate a ton of interest on his own. So, that would rule out players like Henry, Cruyff, Beckham etc. My pick is Hernan Crespo who played in the CL for 5 different teams and his Serie A affiliation is a hedge incase this isn't Ronaldo week.

3) Another Goalkeeper- Maybe Petr Cech since he's hanging up the gloves. If not another keeper, then they go with someone outside the Premier League like Dani Alves, Koke, Radamel Falcao.

I'm rarely even close with this predictions. But, it's fun to try.

Who knows.... He definitely could have started this set differently.
Cristiano they will probably save for card 100.
I’ll guess for a retired player this week.... Filippo Inzaghi!!

Just drop the 25% off every week so we can all settle into this set!

The problem for Topps is that the pricing is too high, especially given that the cards are prints and the sport is soccer. Very few people are going to be willing to pay $6-7 per card for cards that in a set would be worth $1-2.

This week's cards are finally up! Minus 2+ hours on the purchase window, guess someone at Topps fell asleep at the switch. Artwork is subpar yet again....guess another discount code will be in this week's future as well.
