You are correct, they did make more. His numbers are correct, though - 9000 total packs (from Topps’ website: https://www.topps.com/2019-topps-on-...13-mlb-3d.html )

It'll be interesting to see how this compares to Sapphire this year.

2018:
Sapphire PR: 285
3D PR: 268

2019:
Sapphire PR : ~1100 (was this confirmed?)
3D PR: 540

If Tatis is $400 base sapphire, what’s his 3-D worth?

If only that were true with last year’s 3D.

It took less than a year for sealed packs on ebay to completely dry up. And at this moment, Blowout has them listed at 9x original sales price.

I think this year’s release sold over 1700 packs LESS than double last year’s release. Sealed packs will be around for a while, but they won’t last forever in quantity.

- Last year’s Sapphire will have to reach $1800/box to equal last year’s 3D price increase.

- This year’s Sapphire will have to reach $450/box.

At 40 boxes incoming, this is the most I've bought of one product since 2015 Archives Snapshots, another Topps online exclusive.

Still deciding the best course of action.. rip and flip, sell the boxes, or hold the boxes.

Pack prices increasing to $65-70 and not live yet. A seller let a lot of 25 go for about $42 each a few days ago. We could see $100 pack price before any get opened.

8 cards in pack with 6 base and 2 motion inserts. Last year it was 5 base plus 3 motion inserts per pack.

Isn't base better than the motion?

PR of base is lower and is parallel of flagship and is the more popular and valued card from the 3D product.

I agree with the above.

The Motion set is very cool, though, with how much the image changes when the card moves from side to side.

It would have been amazing to have Acuna's Motion card last year be his "Bat Down" swing.

Do you think Topps will change things up and do a horizontal motion card this year? Have not seen the design of the motion cards yet but should be another big winner.

I have no idea, but I would guess it might be easier to do a vertical motion card as apposed to horizontal. But I could be way wrong there. Last year's vertical motion cards are truly amazing in-hand/in-person.

Should be close to $80 on release.

Yet for some reason, single sales of 2018 3D cards lag behind 2018 Sapphire.

I think 3D can make up ground if the set in general gains more traction in the hobby, just like Sapphire did this year.

Excited about this year's release. Last year's was surprisingly awesome. Innovative, sharp design, limited, and most/all the cards came out clean and ready to grade.
