I'd be really surprised if they traded Barton. He's a great bench scorer and a capable ball-handler. I won't be surprised if they move him to the bench this season for Grant, though. Love Grant's length and defensive ability. He's also a capable set shooter.

I could see MPJ realistically get somewhere in the area of 20mpg off the bench this season. If he averages over 10ppg this year I think that's a huge win for the Nuggets.
I really think Barton could go they need to lock up Malik anyways. I think his mid range and 3 and difficult on the shot moving shots remind me of some KD qualities. I think he may get more comfortable and a bit quicker farther he gets away from injury. I do think the Kd as a ceiling isn’t crazy, but don’t think that’s where his game will go, I see him banging down low a bit more than KD does, he had a first step from the 3 point line to a dunk 1st game I was really impressed with quickness. All I know is he has crazy potential and he has looked like a rookie forsure at times this preseason, but some of his scoring skills look elite. His jump shot is fantastic and can take him a long way if he stays healthy. I’m excited it would be a great story, he was sooooooo good coming out of high school

He's very smooth offensively, that's always been his thing. I hesitate to say he's a 3 level scorer like Durant just yet because his slim frame probably won't allow him to bang with bigger 4s and definitely not 5s. Not that Durant is banging down low with big guys but he actually has great footwork in the post.

I don't remember seeing porter take any post fades yet which is a big part of Durant's post game.

Durant was also a very polished (maybe polished isn't the right word but very good) ball handler coming into the NBA. Much better than MPJ. I have yet to see him create any real separation off the dribble in a half court set. He's good in transition but to be elite you need to have those half court dribble moves to create for yourself.

I'll go check the stats but I'm fairly certain nearly all of MPJs shots have been assisted. He's had a lot of "easy" looks through 3 games which is great to build confidence but still haven't seen the elite shot creation that all the MVP level guys have.

He has a great form and follow through and has the length to shoot over almost anyone so I have no doubts that he could be a 20+ppg scorer one day.

Defensively still average at best. I know he had 2 blocks last game and the weakside block was nice but the other one where he got beat and blocked on the recover wasn't great. Craftier guards are going to be able to shield themselves on that and get the shot off. He's still getting beat by quicker guys and isn't going to be able to stock big bodied 4s/5s. He's probably best suited at the 3.

He doesn't really give you much in terms of court vision, at least he hasn't shown it yet. He's usually looking to get off a shot when he gets the ball. Isn't necessarily a bad thing but also limits his upside imo.

Still waiting for you to justify your KD comparison with actual analysis.

I don't invest in cards. I buy things I like because I like them not because some hype men tell me it's the cool thing to do.

My problem with BO and the hobby hypers is when they hide out just to pop up every once in a while to single out 1 thing I said and tell me I'm full of crap and have no idea what I'm talking about. Then when I press to actually get some sort of reason or analysis why I don't know what I'm talking about they slink back into the shadows until "X player" has another good game to come out and scream "I told you so!"

If you're gonna tell me I don't know what I'm talking about at least have something of substance to back it up

(not directed at gsw guy or wharf)

I feel it, anyone could be right about this guy, he’s had huge injuries, he could have his career ended quickly, he could battle injuries have a mediocre career, he might not find enough minutes for a fee years, he could be great, he could be a perennial all star. He’s a huge unknown everyone’s opinion on this guy are valid and it’s not like anyone is saying he’s not skilled. I hype him a bit, but temper my expectations, and try to be realistic, hope I make some money on my collection, but I also just love basketball and he is one I’m really rooting for and already love watching the nuggets play, also warriors haven’t had any young rookies I’ve wanted for a bit. I just love basketball and honestly the last 2 years of collecting for me are so freaking fun!

Some good quotes here from Coach Malone and Paul Millsap on MPJ's defensive improvement and potential. It's preseason, I know. But the fact that he has improved in the areas that he has in such a short amount of time after not playing a game in a year and a half seems like a good sign.

Don't think he's gonna win ROY when he gets 0 minutes.

This is what I alluded to several pages back. I'm not knocking him or his potential talent, it's just that the team is already frontloaded with frontcourt players that have experience and can play both ways. Barton, Craig, Milsap, Grant. And Denver is in win now championship mode. They'll probably give him small minutes as a reserve to work him into the pace of the NBA slowly, but I'm unsure if he'll ever be in that starter role this year unless they lose several guys to injury.

I'm a fan and kind of expected this maybe a good thing for him to really get acclimated to the NBA and be ready when he is 100% healthy. Maybe he even gets traded wouldn't be a bad thing either ]

Stop it, you’re just being a hater. You obviously don’t watch basketball if you can’t see it .

Not a hater. Just a realist. The Porter family has bad genetics.

Read back? I can't even read forward. It's not fair to attack me for being illiterate.

Excellent itrader snap back.

You really should go high five your MPJ stash after that sick burn.

Don't listen to these guys. All they do is hate on stuff.

Did you not see MPJ's warmup dunk? If he gets on the court I'm sure we can at least see a rebound from the guy.

Dude had 16/10 in a blowout loss to FSU in the tourney. With time, I think he's a 35/15 type of player.

These haters are short sighted. With the advancement in modern medicine and the way the game is changing, I'm sure the docs will replace MPJs Spine and Knees. This will force Silver to raise the rim to 12' feet because of the bounce he'll get. Forget winning ROY, MPJ is going have superhuman abilities just like Henry Rowengartner in Rookie of the Year.
