Went to sleep before dark yesterday in order get up and play at launch. Have been playing off-and-on since.

A few thoughts:

1a. Can't tell if going for the Xbox series x version was a mistake. One of the first things I noticed was that the pci seems pretty jumpy, like there is input lag. I'm hitting well though, and the feedback display shows that the pci is ending up near where I intend it. Don't love the input lag effect at all but thinking maybe it's not going to affect results

1b. To my eye, graphics in general on the Xbox series x look almost identical to my og ps4. Game plays smoother though. And loading is so much faster.

2. The UI of the menu system is really jacked. Multiple times I've had to dig for features or screens. Took me probably 5 minutes of hunting to find daily missions for example. Not a deal breaker or anything, but not sure what they were thinking here.

3. First two sets of Topps Now moments were super easy and the rewards are awesome for this point in the game. Went with Yerminator (bad D but great swing and hitting stats for a card with C eligibility) and McMahon (another great swing).

4. Big W on the Clemente freebie. Even only as an 85 overall, Batting .800 with him in events so far. Gives me hope his 99 will be an absolute hit machine when it drops.

Have other thoughts but I'll have to save some for later...

Just bought some Xbox store credit from Costco but will post my day-1 Jackie pre-order NMS squad below (with 16k stubs still in the bank)

I am enjoying it so far. Servers crapped out at about 230-3 am to fix the market glitch, but I'm having fun grinding some showdown now. Working towards 88 Ke'Bryan Hayes.

After this showdown I will probably knock out those topps now moments. I opened 150 packs with 0 diamonds lol so I am done with those for awhile. I bought all of the 88 "42" preorder cards, but I'm only using Hank, Pedro, and Mariano for now. I wanted to get them to start grinding that collection, but I am also going to slow it down this year and use some golds before I start stacking an all-diamond squad

Interesting shift this year, as the "inning rewards" are now strictly XP based and not neccesarily grind the dailys every day to get what you need.

No double pre order for me.
Got a Bregman diamond in my first 10 pack. Ripped a 50 pack and didn't get any diamonds.
It's overwhelming the amount of modes/games/challenges and trying to figure it all out but the game has been a lot of fun to play.
Not a fan of how after you get thru the menus and into something like the 1st inning moments and you select and complete one, and then it kicks you all the way back out to the main menu. I'm sure navigating all the menus will get easier with practice but it'd be nice if it brought you right back to the 1st inning Moments 'lobby'.
I need to watch some more tutorials on the market again cause it's really confusing to me trying to buy/sell cards.
I've just ripped and held on to everything I've gotten so far.

Ripped a 50 bundle. Accidentally auto flipped a diamond. Ended up being Freeman who I sold for 42K. 3 packs later hit another diamond, it’s Freeman again! Another 42K sell. Made back the money on the bundle

Decided to finish the Twins collection, got Puckett on my squad right now

Saving the rest of my stubs, sitting around 70K

Currently my plan is to do the first inning conquest, then do the first inning moments. Once that’s done I’m going to do the TA conquest maps. Best way to get packs right now, just accumulate and then open

Loving the new prestige/parallel mechanic. Stage one is cake and gives a sweet serial number (see screenshot and bottom left of card art). Very much akin to physical cards, which I think will make it all that much more fun this year. Only change I would like to see would be the parallel color also carry over to the diamond color.

Longhorn your team looks damn good for this early in the season. You like Pedro? I am thinking of taking him. Still waiting for the UPS guy to show. Maybe next year I wont get the version with the hat. The wait sucks. I have cleaned the house, taken the garbage out, taken the dog on a walk...now what?

Had some issues with GameStop this morning when I went to pick up my Jackie Robinson Deluxe Edition, but I won't go into all of that! Been playing for the last couple hours and my highlights so far were pulling 2 Diamonds in my initial 10 packs for pre-ordering. Corey Seager and Liam Hendriks, I'll take that pack luck even if they aren't the most expensive diamonds! Been grinding out some of the early moments and conquest missions before trying to dive into the market and work on collections.

I did a couple of TA showdowns and AL west player exchanges to land 42 series Jose Berrios after choosing him in my first showdown draft and loving his stuff. His slurve is bonkers and pairs really well with his hard stuff (big amount of movement for both his 4 seam and 2 seam too). Was absolutely dominant in his first online game.

Re 42 series Pedro: super fun card but has been very hit and miss online for me. Currently 3-3 with an ERA around 9 lol. All event games (AS difficulty). That said, his 3 wins were gems.

I do think if I had it to do over again I might go with 2 batters from the pre-order 42 packs though. Seeing 42 Pedro every other game online currently and lighting him up myself. Think he's just a bit overexposed. Hoping maybe usage will die down on official launch day, since most people starting then won't have the pre-order freebies.

Can't wait for 99 Pedro though. Guessing he's going to be ridiculous with great /9's and the killer mix.

Took the squad online for my first ranked seasons game! Lineup below. I have some diamonds I'm not using because I rushed and bought a ton last year and want to take it slower this year and use some sick gold/silver cards.

C - 84 Yermin Mercedes
1B - 86 Ryan McMahon
2B - 88 Jackie Robinson
SS - 91 Wander Franco
3B - 83 Joey Gallo
LF - 88 Hank Aaron
CF - 88 Willie Mays
RF - 85 Roberto Clemente

Started 86 Musgrove and he threw well. ended up getting a rage quit after Gallo's 2nd 3-run-bomb. Won 10-3

Sweet lineup and even better result. Rage quits are the best signal of a job well done in this game. As long as not a dashboard quit haha

FWIW I havent been dashboarded yet after quite a few event games. It seemed like it was happening at least 50% of the time in the last couple months of MLBTS '20 (when I was anywhere near the right side of a blowout). Wonder if SDS has done something to prevent those, or if people are just in good spirits for the new release.

How's that 91 Wander feeling for you? Gold Bichette wasn't cutting it for me, so I put in gold Correa. Like his swing but he feels really sluggish in the field.

Thanks man! I'm glad the servers are performing well. I haven't tried events yet but maybe tomorrow. I have 1 more showdown to finish for Hayes then I will be playing more ranked, BR, and events.

Wander feels really nice. I think I was 1-3. I was extremely impatient so that didn't help. I got lucky and pulled him in the space pack.

Decided to rip a 50 before bed. Pulled 85 Buehler in the regular packs...but the ballin' pack was a DOUBLE DIAMOND! I didn't get one all last year out of the thousands and thousands of packs I opened!

Idk if I'm gonna keep or sell. Definitely too tired to make that decision tonight lol
