Strange half. Can’t believe no yellow for the tackle on turner. Dumb from Weah to get the red. Then balo away on a break and gets pulled down, no yellow. Puli fouled in the box, no call. Scally gets violently targeted in the back and for me it’s the same as what Weah did, no play on the ball, just trying to injure.

Should sub in Musah for Gio soon to cover more ground and counter quickly. Counters and set plays he only hope for 3, although I would take a point now.

Yup, Weah should've just done the blindside shoulder check to the back to avoid red

No yellow on the foul on Matt Turner. No review on the tackle on Pulisic in the box. Scally gets shouldered and the player didn't even try to play the ball. Completely one sided. Terrible

That was the worst. Weah owes his team a huge apology. The reffing was also poor. Same ref as the us / Mexico game a couple years ago that went off the rails. He’s not qualified to handle games at this level.

CCV came in and I once again was not impressed. Failed to mark his man for the goal, nearly gave up a pen going to ground for no good reason.

Probably have to beat Uruguay now. Not good.

It's beyond that....he (just like Dest) now put himself in the "can he be trusted not to lose his temper in a big match" category.

Because imagine this was a much more important match (and this match was pretty important)....like maybe a knockout stage match at WC26.....

You can't blame the referee. USA got outplayed start to finish. Panama had 74% of the ball.

Problem is, Panama should roll Bolvia over, and the USA now has to beat a Bielsa Uruguay.

Lol we were a man down after 18, of course we didn’t have high possession.

Hopefully Uruguay will rest some starters and help us out! Very tough matchup.

You lost a forward against an inferior side. If you can't tactically mange that, then you deserved to get your asses handed to you.

Midfielder or Defender you'd have a point.

Switch to a 4-4-1 and bring on Aaronson.

This, exactly. It is outrageous that the US’s top 10 can’t keep some of the ball and play against Panama at home in front of a friendly crowd. Switching to 5 in the back was a scared tactic, which shouldn’t be the case when you are supposed to be the better team.

I think anyone who thinks they shouldn't have played defensively after losing a player is crazy. The US is not that much better than Panama to do that a man down, even at home.

The bad part is that they should have way more possession (at least 35%) and they allowed two goals in less than 80 minutes. Also, I've lost track of how many goals Pepi has lost in the tourney.

Second half of your comment is the point. Taking Reyna off and putting Carter Vickers on as part of a 5 back formation concedes possession for the remainder of the game. It is inevitable that you are going to concede goals when you are playing in your final defensive third for 80 percent of the game with a pretty mediocre back line and your backup goalie. If the US can’t play positively against Panama, even with 10 men, the program is no further along than it was 30 years ago.

Yep. Going for a back five just invites pressure and puts you under the cosh for the remainder of the game, tiring the players.

If they had stuck to a rigid 4-4-1 they could have a solid shape and held the midfield quite comfortably. Instead they were being passed through like a knife through butter. Brining on Aaronson as the lone striker gives you a headless chicken that can run all day long, and drop back in to midfield when needed for a 4-5-0.

You can play 5-3-1 and don't completely give up possession. Peru did that against Canada (a better team than Panama) and ended up keeping the ball around 45% of the time.

The ref was unspeakably bad, Pepi is trash, as is Horvath.

Dest and Weah will be fine.

They are playing at home against a team that doesn't need to win (even tie) to achieve its goal.

They might still go out but this game is a great test on where this team is.
