Odd with the budget constraints they extended him through 2026 and then fired him 1 year into it. McClain out all year, Marte out 80 games, CES only played 29 games. At one point entire rotation was on DL. Jeimer was a terrible signing. Montas was terrible as well. Nobody can win games like that. People may not like Bell but the front office is a big problem.

Both Bell and the front office are big problems. They are apparently trying to take care of one of them. Which is better than doing nothing about either of them. This was a good move no matter how you slice it. And the budget contraints are overblown by small market teams. If they will eat Moustakas' contract, and Shogo's contract, etc..., they can eat Bell's meager contract.

And there is already chatter about Barry Larkin for the next manager....probably the dumbest moves they could make so it wouldn't shock me if they did just that.

I read Skip Schumaker, David Ross and Eduardo Perez. Perez would be my last choice since they need to get away from the bloodline managerial choices.

Lmao at bloodline...now I'm picturing Roman Reigns managing the Reds.. agreed 100% though. The big problem with the Reds is ownership and front office. Unfortunately that won't change. Cincinnati is just cursed with mediocre at best teams it seems

Why not finish the last 5 or 6 games and then fire him? I went to the three game series with Atlanta last week and had a great time. Love the ballpark and the fans are always fun. Hopefully they bounce back and get some pitching to go with that young core.

They need hitting more than pitching at this point. Their lineup is a disgrace.

Going by this recent article, seems like this former Reds pitcher had been sloppy in hiding his pitch grip...
"The righty only tossed 2 2/3 innings Sunday afternoon and let up seven earned runs. If Montas can't correct his pitch-tipping tendencies for the postseason, the Brew Crew may be in trouble."

I'm wondering if the pitching issues in the Reds is a mix of pitching coaching before batting. In batting their DH/cleanup hitter is supposed to brief the coach at their "opinions of the opposing pitcher" so if neither is talking everything falls apart.

That's a big get for the Reds. I hope he holds the front office accountable going forward.

Didn't Francona have a number of health issues? On paper it sounds good, but I could see this turning out similar to when the Sox hired the elderly La Russa

As a Guards fan, I'm hoping this means Francona is well enough physically for taking this on! Big get here if Tito can get the front office to buy in like he did in Cleveland. I doubt he came back for a rebuild or something of nature. He is not a young guy type coach he is going to want them to bring in established guys.

Seriously?

I can't see any way in the world any Reds fan isn't happy with this hire.

Francona >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bell

He is a proven winner.

He might have been a good choice for a more veteran focused team. I expect he gets replaced or leaves within 2 years

I'm a huge Reds fan and I'm good with this signing. However, I hope he's healthy because the current Reds roster is going to stress him out. Lots of very young guys.

That was the only thing I didn't like about Tito was he had preferences to older vets or established guys (not saying better, but just guys who have been in the league vs youth). He was always quick to pull young guys in my opinion and mess around too much with their playing time.
