I don't hate it on the surface, just unexpected. Looks like $18.5M per Mets beat.

His second half numbers were nice, good splits.

Why? Where are we putting Beltran and Gardner?

Beltran replaces Cuddyer's role platooning but honestly you can remove the two of them from the trade and it isn't really much different. Gardner is an everyday addition, adding speed and a little pop to bat 2nd behind Granderson. Outfield would be Conforto/Granderson/Gardner. Granderson can play center and I'm sure Gardner could too.

I love the look of this lineup:

1 - Granderson
2 - Gardner
3 - Walker
4 - Duda
5 - Wright
6 - D'Arnaud
7 - Conforto
8 - Flores

With a bench including Beltran, Cabrera, Plawecki, Lagares

Can't pay Beltran that much to be in a bench role.

Only about 2 million more than Cuddyer. I'm sure Mets would make that up in the revenue that bring back Beltran would generate. I'm sure they'd milk every penny they could out of a comeback story

Well Cuddyer just announced his retirement... So scratch that idea. I'm hoping everything was alright with him, had a great career. Probably is good for the Mets as well clearing up more payroll

Seems like a little too much for him, but happy to see his jolly-self coming back for one more year.

So we basically got asdrubal and Bart back for Cuddyer retiring.

I'll take it.

With Colon and Ortiz returning, those are two players in Ken Griffey Baseball who are playing in 2016. That was one of the biggest games of my childhood.

I agree. I guess he's going to be the 5th starter because that's a lot for an old long reliever

Rosenthal:
"Per sources, Colon had better offers from other clubs, but wanted to stay with #Mets. Loves fans, teammates, organization."

Fantastic deal that can't go wrong for so little money, happy to have him back.

Mets named Dick Scott bench coach, not familiar with him. Our director of player development, so kind of like Terry's role before.

"My local minor league team is an affiliate of the Cardinals. Josiah Viera is a local child with progeria who is at almost every game. He hangs out in the dugout in uniform, gives everyone high fives when they come back to the dugout, and I don't remember ever seeing him without a smile on his face. He even has his own baseball card He got to go to the winter meetings and my facebook was filled with pictures of his smiling face. Terry Collins stopped and asked for his autograph and it put an even bigger smile on my face, and I just wanted to share with the subreddit.

It's really nice to hear that Colon had better offers but wanted to play for this team. It was only a year ago that we had to significantly overpay players to come to NY

1yr/4.5mil to Alejandro De Aza.

The last thing this team needed. Just goes to show ownership is not willing to shell out the cash on a big name FA.

Although I do like the signings of Walker and Asdrubal, losing our 3 & 4 hitters will put us back in the same spot like early 2015. Remeber the days of Campbell/Mayberry/Cecilliani as the heart of our order, looks like thats what this year will entail unless they do right with everyone and sign Cespedes.

Mets are done. Maybe they'll sign a reliever, but I doubt they're signing anyone over league min
