That means a lot coming from one of the top photographers around these parts!

May as well round things out with the remaining Legacy Collection (Row 0) from Flair Showcase's maiden release. I must admit that I came around to appreciating the Row 0 cards a little slower than many. Even though I knew that the Row 0 base cards were considerably more rare than the base cards for Rows 2 and 1, the sparkly background seemed a little gimmicky to me at first, whereas the other two rows just screamed class to me. Right off the bat, I loved the action shot foregrounds of the first two rows (2 and 1), with their large looming close-up shots featuring the backdrop for what I considered to be the first base set of refractors. Fast forward some time, and my appreciation for the Row 0 has not surpassed, but probably caught up to the more basic elegance of the other two rows. Row 0 features the opposite player presentation from Rows 2 and 1, where the smaller foreground shot is a still, and the action shot makes up the backdrop. Whereas I used to dismiss the beauty of the Row 0 card, due in part to it being more challenging to see the action shot in the background, I now appreciate the challenge when the card(s) are in hand, and can be moved around in the light to better see the action shot - of course, coupled with plenty of colorful sparkle. The last thing I would call the casual viewer's attention to, is that only these first year Legacy Collection cards feature the blue holofoil lettering (across all three rows), whereas the subsequent two years feature standard blue foil.

I don't know that 1996 Showcase Row 0's aren't the prettiest cards ever made.

Here's a pretty one from the first year of Metal Universe. They really made some neat looking inserts that year, even though some of them like this one are not too rare and likely affordable for everyone. This picture includes two photographs of the same card, from two diffferent angles, and uses a very unusual combination of holofoil and other shiny effects that I don't think I've seen on another set. It looks like an electric storm is brewing, and is too bad Thor wasn't included in the set.

What's better than a pair? How about quad diamonds
Scanner didn't do a good job with the colors on these cards.

Man, that's a great photo of Starbury w/Big Ticket... I only wish the Choice logo wasn't perfectly covering the Suns player's face... who is it? The Wolves before Marbury left, were a VERY FUN team to watch!!!

Also very nice shot of that Kemp Credentials, I love the shiny purple holofoil on these cards, and just recently got a decent picture of mine as well. I agree it would be a treat to get to see more of where all of these mk monsters are coming from.

These Gold Universe inserts from the 1997-98 Metal Universe can really give off some amazing colors in the right light, also highlighting their intricately etched foil. Just to illustrate what can be lost in a scan versus a picture, here's a scan of the card (scans of these always come out gold, as also evidenced on COMC)...

1997-98 Metal Universe Gold Universe No. 7 by peaceful_garden, on Flickr

...and here are three different photographs of that same card:
