For the East I'm gonna assume Trae and Kemba. Starters are basically a popularity contest. Kemba being a Celtic now with his previous track record bodes well. Trae is the young gun out east, he's not quite exploded to Luka popularity levels but still has a lot of momentum and ATL is a big city. Watching the games they seem to be drawing well this season. (Might be wrong bout that idk)

For the west it's Harden and Luka.

Harden/Lillard

It gets kinda funky given how positionless the NBA is these days. Luka and Harden play similar roles, but one is a PG and the other a SF. It seems like the position designation isn’t quite what it used to mean. Aside from a guy like Rubio, how many true PGs are there? There are so many dudes who just play ball and don’t fit a traditional position role.

I know this is a Trae thread but how the hell do people just keep putting Simmons as an all- star lol I don’t think his 14-6-8 scream I deserve to be an all-star.

I guess to keep it Trae related he deserves and will be an all-star this year, most likely a starter

Simmons is better than his points/boards/assists line. Simmons is the Ed Reed of NBA defense. He’s a playmaker. Leads the league in steals and has made a lot of big time steals/blocks and pressure defensive plays in clutch moments. People here hate the guy and get their feelings involved, but if you actually watch him play on a regular basis, there’s a LOT to like. There’s a lot not to like too, but he’s still really good.

You also need to consider who gets the nod over him. Is he not one of the top 5 guards in the East?

I don't think it's much of a popularity contest anymore. I believe the fan vote is only 50% of the starters, while it used to be 100%.

I just looked it up. It's 50% fans, 25% media, 25% players. I think the fans and players will vote for Trae. Media won't. Who knows though.

I actually won’t argue with anything you wrote (well maybe the Ed reed analogy lol probably the best safety I have ever seen he’s more like Harrison smith, skol and go Vikings!) . He’s a phenomenal defender. I said it last year in the playoffs that he’s an elite on ball wing defender. Other than a few mental mistakes on switches and rotating he a phenomenal defender.

My issue is the no brainer all-Star part. If he’s an all star sure it’s fine but there are a few guys that could get the nod over him and it wouldn’t be a travesty at all. If Trae, walker and Beal are sure fire picks for guards (I’d have a hard time hearing an arguement that Simmons deserves to get in over those three) and say brogdon, dinwidde and Jaylen are the other 3 I don’t think that’s unfair. Heck, Lavine or Val vleet could have an argument over Simmons as well. The part I don’t buy is that Simmons is automatically and easily more deserving than the guys I mentioned. Will he get picked over most of those guys? Probably but a case could easily be made why any of those guys should be an all-star over him.

Simmons = all-Star, i’m fine with that
Simmons = slam dunk, sure fire all-star? No I have an issue with that lol

My comments are as much about his card values as anything else. His stuff is already at/near Steph levels, yet he has accomplished 1/10th as much. He is therefore going to need to accomplish more to keep this up, and if he does not have playoff exposure to grow as a player and further his fan exposure, it is going to be tough.

Again, I have NO SKIN in this game. I am a Nets fan who watches Nets games (and tons of league pass), and all of my basketball cards are Nets cards that have no value tied to Trae.

But if Trae were to live up to the hype and live up to the light he is portrayed as on here, you don't allow your team to blow an 18 point lead to a Nets team with their 3 best players out, and 10 healthy guys on the roster. The Hawks have pieces there (I am VERY high on Hunter as an elite #3 option in a few years), but Trae needs to play a better style of basketball for the team to be better. Maybe the hero ball changes when Collins comes back.

And I will say that Trae has grown a lot since when I saw him play last season (Dec and Jan in BK), where he looked frail and was tentative with poor shot selection. He still has much more growing to do for his hype and cards to be where they are, IMO.
I just want to comment about your point on the golden state being a bigger market. Prior to the splash brothers, golden state is one of the worst small market team in the nba. I’m pretty sure the hawks had better legacy than the golden states, prior to the splash brothers.

Correct me if I am wrong, but they've sold out a bunch prior to Steph, especially in the 2007 Baron Davis led squad. Hawks games are pretty empty, and there wasn't much of a fuss around the team even when they were the 1 seed.

San Francisco > Atlanta as a market.

San Francisco > Atlanta as a market.
I don’t recall the Baron Davis era as being all that popular, at least I don’t think it was better than the Dominique era; I could be wrong. As for the location, the warriors weren’t located in San Francisco at the time when Stephen curry became popular, but even if it was, I’m not so sure it’s a bigger basketball market, just because it’s a wealthier city. Boston isn’t even one of the top ten biggest city in the country and yet it’s a bigger basketball market than most teams. I can only remember the golden state being an irrelevant team in the past with most of its residents being fans of the lakers.

On a different topic, is San Francisco currently a large nba market? I understand it’s a big city with lots of money from the Silicon Valley, but those dudes are mostly nerds and I presumed aren’t into sports, at least most of them. I know it’s a big gaming market, from what I have seen.

Beauty!!!!

I really screwed up when I purchased Prizm color parallels of Trae and Luka... granted I was early so at least I’m up nicely in both, and it’s not like they’re hideous...

I love this card, congratulations! How mich did you get it for? I think this card will be the one Trae Young Prizm to own, similar to Luka’s /199 blue.

Whilst a Blue Luka and Red Trae would be awesome I still think you've hit the Jackpot! I'm still chasing my own Blue Trae and Red Luka as I love the alternating colours as it's a nice little reminder of that famous trade.

Lol! That’s good, I wasn’t thinking in this aspect on the colors. You’ll also need the /75 purple to make it complete. Just a little reminder how Kings passed on Luka.

When are you guys just going to be honest & call a Spade a Spade. Ben Simmons is NOT an Elite OR Franchise Player at all. People who Invested in him are trying to sucker you into thinking he is. Only because they need to dump him and get back a little of their money.
THINK Andrew Luck collectors who Invested in 2012, and for years until his retirement his "Pumper's & Dumper's for years kept saying this is the year! Lol... buy a towel & wipe all the egg of your face regarding Luck and a few years from now Simmons will be exposed as a player who cares more about 'Brand' than Basketball. Merry Christmas.

Wow, Trae Silver Prizm PSA 10 prices plummeting. Down to $375 from a high of $550. People concerned about his health long-term for sure. Have a bunch at PSA for almost 3 months now with no progress. PSA killing me right now.
