I do not know the status of the premiere collectibles bookplates (loose cards) and penguin bookplates. I am not an expert on Hillary, they do not look autopen but may be secretarial. That said you can find various autopens on ebay.

The version from Premiere wasn't an auto-pen. That was an exclusive bookplate version only they had with real sigs. I have one and it looks fine.

Premiere only does signed books and they certify them not to be auto-pens. Barnes & Noble and other sellers make no guarantees and are in the book selling business, not the signed book selling business.

I don't remember the specifics, but I believe the autopenned copies were sold through bookstores due to cancelled booktalks/author events, and it might have only been the Hillary signature that was fake? Sorry, I don't remember for certain. So there might be authentic ones out there in addition to whatever Premiere released.

I'm more hopeful about these now. I've looked at about a dozen examples of the Lovato artcards from the UK store, and haven't seen any blatant signs of fakes/autopens. The first US examples should be delivered today I'd think.

However, just because the UK ones haven't been autopenned doesn't necessary mean anything for the US copies. During Halsey's Manic release, the UK ended up with a bunch of autopenned ones somehow while the US distribution was okay I think.

Allegedly all the beibers are fake and some people are claiming that 1 in 5,000 of the Ariana's are real or something like that. I'd say throw the baby out with the bathwater here.

Ariana's label is Republic Records ... owned by UMG
Beiber's label is Island Def Jam ... owned by UMG
Lana Del Rey is Polydor/Interscope ... owned by UMG

There are exceptions like Selena Gomez's signed album was on Interscope which is owned by UMG. But at this point I'll probably just stay away from UMG artists.

Biebers are ghost-signed, then the later ones turned to autopen. Grandes are almost entirely autopenned. As eldavojohn said, there are a handful that are real and signed by both. But like, a literal handful.

Worth noting here that Ariana's Positions CDs were legit, it was just the Bieber/Grande duals that were bad - I'd blame Bieber since almost all of his stuff is bad anymore.

it helps their overall sales for those rewards/awards or what not and most of these companies either fight the returns or once it's sold it's recorded as sold as far as the industry is concerned. I guess there was some change recently with one of the awards which no longer is linked to sales partially because of this. Swifty and JB/Grande must have set some crazy sales records, but at least swifty signed all her albums.

it's crappy and you are right, bait and switch, and it's even possible the artist has no idea this is going on. I mean what are they doing over the last year? Not like there have been tours. they are sitting at home like many of us.

some of the stuff I've seen in the facebook groups with regards to how much you have to fight to get a refund on the fake stuff is crazy. there was another person who advertised a signed album and they were raised pre-prints or inkings, she even went on shows pumping the album and signing. people were pissed with the final product.

Premiere has said expect to have some signed Grohl books, but most of the other sources have seemed to indicate that they aren't happening.
