I agree. I hate that people are making the lockdown protests into a political thing

Protests , regardless of lockdown, ARE a political thing

I'm going to get a swastika tattooed on my forehead and explain to everyone that to me it means spirituality and not Nazism.

I bet that will go over well.

Trump made it political when he tweeted his "liberate" comment to undermine and upset the state government.

He is taking a page from his good ol' buddy, Putin.

You're getting a tattoo on your forehead, so people will just think you have a mental disease and avoid you.

In my opinion: any time a symbol of hatred and treason (which shouldn't have been there in the first place) can be criticized, it should. I don't see it as a "waste of time". I can applaud her criticism and also tell her to get back to work - they are not mutually exclusive.

That was disgraceful, even for Trump. If someone with any sort of political standing tweeted something like "liberate 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue", the Right would go nuts and that tweeter would have secret service knocking at their door.

You literally said "her awful tenure in office will end this fall."

It will not.

You didn't say anything about the state, plus you want her fixing roads right now when she's busy mopping up Trump's mess? It seems like she won in 2018 because he'd already flipped the state blue. You think he's done anything to get back the ground he's clearly already lost?
Ok, then.

Just admit you thought Whitmer was up for re-election in 2020 and apologize to 'squatch for misleading him. This doesn't mean you can't continue making up "funny" names for her, though, gems like "Whitlessmer" and "Whitchmer". Indeed, you have at least two and a half years to do that. Have fun.

Today’s the 50th anniversary of 4 students being killed by the National Guard at Kent State for exercising their 1st amendment rights

And you have 4 1/2 more years to cry about elections. Well at least until the next Republican takes office.

Just admit you were wrong and move on. This type of response, although expected, just embarrasses you further.

Latest estimates from the CDC are not good going into June.

New projections from CDC in documents shows steady rise in number of cases and deaths from Covid19 over next several weeks, reaching about 3,000 daily deaths on June 1st and about 200,000 new cases each day by end of the month

Seems to be the problem with most people posting in here from jdandns, Joan P, Chezball, cnewby, etc. All have been wrong, don’t admit it directly and embarrass themselves further.

It’s actually my favorite part about this entire thread. Everyone just being wrong acting like they’re right. So much fun

I haven't cried yet.
Why would I at this point?

Opinions can always be argued, but if you'll check your facts before posting from now on, you can avoid this happening to you again.
Please do. It can be very uncomfortable for all concerned.

I just saw that rapinoe soccer person on an article, also heard a week or so back that she offered to be Biden's VP. She literally looks like a young Biden...like could be his son/daughter.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, intent, the forgotten word.
Personally I think bringing the confederate flag to the rally was dumb. It opened the door of deflection for others to paint the protesters in a bad light.
But again intent.
Do you believe their intention of bringing that flag was slavery? I don't, I believe it represented the divide in our country and people displaying their intention to fight back against a governor's decision they vehemently disagree with.
Surely they could have used a much less inflammatory symbol so it's INTENT wouldn't be bastardized.
It just amazes me how often someone's intention can be twisted into what ever fits someone else's narrative. Not just the left, the right does the exact same thing and it poisons real discussion.

Good thing they have the death penalty for doing that then, huh?

Oh, really?
I'd be willing to own up to any factual errors I've made and would be grateful to anyone who can point them out so that I can apologize and set the record straight. Go ahead and hit me with some, and put that to the test. I've got my bib on and can eat as much crow as you can serve.

Intent is the crux of it all. But you're playing with fire with such a divisive symbol like the confederate flag and you should know better when and where to display it (not at all is a fine choice). If you want to display your displeasure with the governor and/or their decision, make a sign so your INTENT is obvious and leaves no room for doubt.

Regardless, we can talk until we're blue in the face about what the person's actual "intent" was with the flag - unless you ask them and get an answer we're just speculating (aka wasting our time).

I think in this situation it's a little more obvious why it was there, when what was being protested isn't remotely related to racism or slavery or anything of that sort. But as you said it's a waste of time, they had it there, Gov. Whitmer took her chance to move the spotlight a little, and the beat goes on.
