Default Selling High Priced Cards

Hi - how do I sell a card that's worth $1000+ on ebay without losing my mind thinking I'm going to get scammed? The only precautions that seem available are shipping insurance and signature delivery. Are there any better third party websites out there where one cal sell high priced cards in a more safe/guaranteed environment?

Thanks

Centering will be a big issue on a lot of these...so I expect well-centered copes will command a premium...but, like the Panini Flawless encased cards, I personally will have a hard time taking these out of their sealed Topps holder.

All of my Flawless/Topps Dynasty cards are in their original cases, and I will probably hold true to the same with these Project 2020's...although my Baller Ichiro IS pretty centered.....

Depending if and what happens with potential fakes i think it could help buyers peace of mind knowing the card is "authentic"

As someone who mainly collects non-sport and art prints I don't care about grading just authenticity

If you bought from either a reputable seller or toward the end of the weekend, probably.

If you bought on Friday/Saturday from anyone with little feedback or on a platform that discourages leaving negative feedback for cancellations (such as Mercari, OfferUp etc) then you're screwwwwwed.

I personally do not want to grade. The slabs are too bulky for one and two, I just don't think these belong in graded slabs.

But even with that..... It may very well become a thing and your $1k raw card might be a $3k card slabbed with high grade. Who knows.

Baller Gooden has caught up to Rochester Trout. Hovering at the $65-70 mark. It was about $55-60 last night.

You're relying on grading companies to tell you its authentic? Haven't we just been through a massive scandal with them?

Had another seller (chats_garage) cancel an order today. I bought a pair of Grotesk Jeters Sunday for $190 a pop and he claimed he was away and did not know how underpriced he put them up for. I told him give me one instead of cancelling the whole transaction which he agreed to. It’s getting really annoying now - this is my second cancelled transaction, my first being a $185 Ermsy Gooden...

Post for sale on eBay
Get paid via PayPal
Ship card very protected and insured. Signature confirmation is hit or miss since post man may not want to get close due to COVID-19.
Hold funds for a few weeks just in case buyer wants a refund. They have xx amount of time to ask for a refund or return the item.
You are protected by eBay and PayPal as a seller but buyers have higher ground most of the time.

Or sell on BO from a member with longevity here that posts often.

Depends on how quickly the market reaches its peak and begins declining.

If you get it graded quickly with the premium service and have it in hand in the next few weeks, some baseball investors would probably go gaga on it. In their heads "once in a lifetime product" + "BGS 9.5" = "retirement fund"

But many of these buyers from outside the card market don't even know how to order from Topps directly, let alone give a flying flip about what a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5 is. They are buying the hype, the coolness factor and the investment of the slab as is.

If the market declines by the time you get the card back from BGS or PSA, you're going to have to hope there's still a baseball investor looking for it.

COMC is selling P2020 cards. That would be an option if you don't want to sell directly on eBay. Or here in the Baseball B/S/T section.

Thanks for the tips. I'll look into selling here on BO - I didn't think of that!

Post here as well:

SaveMeTheGum is keeping a running list of unethical eBay sellers who cancel P2020 deals.

Like Blake, Beck, Taylor, and Ermsy, he hasn't strayed in his design. I think this set will absolutely pop when put together.

Also, he hasn't done a big name for the set, and is here on the boards!

Not serial numbered

Seems like mos will collect them in their case instead of graded slab
Yep, we are now seeing counterfeits coming out of China.

This is about to get messy

We saw a fake auction. We haven't seen counterfeit cards yet.

Now I’m satisfied with my stash! Personally like the Grotesk Jeter the best of the Jeter run so far because as a card collector it has so many elements of the original (lots of green)...can’t believe those have been the lowest PR so far
That is a smart smart buy....these Matt Taylor Jeter's will be $500+ in a couple days....PR less than 10k and will most likely be the 3rd lowest PR for a Jeter card out of the 20 being made.....hop on this one now if you can

I’m the biggest Efdot fan girl on here, his set is now the only full set of 20 that I’m planning on collecting.

$2300 for his 4 cards to catch up. And he doesn’t even have a card in the first 1-15. Insane!
