Perhaps that's something that can be done when HOF list starts to run dry years from now.
In general, I’m not opposed to the idea. But for Paige, specifically, I strongly feel he should be a Monarch. With all the hype that went with the announcement that “The Negro Leagues are Major League”, let’s show we mean it by not making the Negro Leagues contributions of players like Paige, Monte Irvin, Buck O’Neil, etc. secondary to their time in MLB.

Maybe it could be a special limited item to celebrate the 10 year mark? Released in bundles of 10 cards over the course of 27-28 weeks?
I like that take on it. With 274 cards in the original 1953 set, and 7 of the players having already been featured, releasing the cards over 27-28 weeks would be cool.

For those interested, the 7 players from the 1953 set that have already appeared in the Living Set are below.
  • Jackie Robinson (42)
  • Eddie Mathews (379)
  • Bob Feller (381)
  • Mickey Mantle (407)
  • Yogi Berra (400)
  • Ralph Kiner (112)
  • Willie Mays (300)

Would be great if Topps would give some direction on the prints. When will 500+ be available? 5 / week? Will those be limited?

With the fine art prints remaining available as print-on-demand items, I wonder if they'll go back and make the first 500 prints available again.

Either way, at $20 per print, and no timetable, it makes it a lot easier to pick up prints when you want to. I love this idea.

With Topps making prints available the same week as the cards now, I can't imagine prints for 501-594 will be limited to 100. I can see them releasing 5 at a time starting the week of, or after, they release card 600.

How does everyone feel about Topps making prints 1-500 available again as unnumbered offerings?

I'm just getting back into the set after a long absence. Happy to see Nimmo have a card today.

I think any print never released should be released. This set is about consistency and I’m sure some of us with a theme were counting on being able to get a print

Two assumptions here:

Prints are for sale as long as the cards?
No more 1/1 artist prints?

Is that right?

It seems like the prints are available for eternity...there is no clock on it.

This is how I understood the prints, too.

Here is the blurb from Topps.

New Fine Art Print Configuration!

10"x14" Print-sized copies of the art featured on players' Living Set card counterparts will be made available and will STAY available, printing to order on our premium, cotton fine-art paper.

All sales are final. Art subject to change. Not responsible for typographical/printer errors.

I have no doubt prints for cards 501-594 will eventually be made available, just under the new format of no numbering without an expiration date.

I was curious if cards that have already received a hand-numbered print (1-500) should be made available again as unnumbered prints? I personally would like to see this, because as others have pointed out, collecting every print and card creates a truly complete set. I can also understand the argument from collectors who've shelled out top dollar for the limited prints from Topps and/or the secondary market. I've spent a lot of money tracking down prints I was unable to get when they were originally available, and even then I would still like to see unnumbered prints be made available for every card.

That’s a perfect example of why I would be okay with Topps making all past prints available again. That particular guy paid $20 each, and is selling them for at least $100 each. He’s more than made his money back, meanwhile, Topps is missing out on a lot of revenue. It would completely eliminate the secondary market for prints, save for those collectors who want to own a print from the original run.

As an outsider, I’d be fine if they resold the prints that sold out instantly like Gibson and Mantle

If prints are truly available forever, why not do that for the cards too?

This is why I think they should make a window for the prints also. Not closing the window to order prints will probably create a forever cap on the secondary market for the cards.

I also don't think they should make prints #1-500 again. I may be in the minority but sticking to the limited window availability that was promised when the line was first released is probably important for the long term success of the brand. What's to stop them from printing Mini versions or Chrome versions, etc etc. A lot of the allure with Living is that if you don't buy these incredible pieces of artwork now, you will never have the chance to again.

I initially thought prints would be available for one week, the same as the cards. I never thought Topps would make prints available and keep them available. Maybe the price point will entice more sales. The prints costing nearly four times as much as a card may also explain the approach. At the very least, it should all but eliminate the secondary market for the prints. Even more so if Topps allows past prints to be made available again.

Maybe Topps is looking to generate more interest in the set altogether. Change up the way the products are offered, albeit slightly, the same week as a new artist and card variation are introduced.

If I'm Topps, I'm trying to find the balance between getting as many collectors as possible interested in the Living Set, as well as making sure they're not stretched too thin with constant printing of a never-ending checklist of cards. I would assume most collectors are only interested in the cards, with a handful collecting both cards and prints.

I'll admit, my desire to see past prints made available again is purely selfish. I would love the chance to have one of each print at a reasonable price. However, should that never happen, I definitely understand the reasoning.
