Topps makes Pro Debut minor league cards, correct?

How were they able to make cards from the Futures game in 2016 that included Yoan Moncada before he was called up?

I am very sad.

I think they went out and got the rights for those other cards...and are not on a 24 hour clock. Perhaps they could get on the phone and get the rights for both him and his father (for the back of the card) and make it happen for the first Card of the Week contender? That would be a great card to start off that new Now program.

Where there is a will, there is a way. There is no will with this card. Maybe if he was a Mets or Yankees player?

Question on the RTOD sets. I bought a Twins autograph set and I am curious how the autographs will be allocated if the auto set doesn't sell out (There are 4 subjects each with 189 auto cards making 756 total sets). So lets say they only sell 200 of the auto sets (which may be high?) do they only give out the parallels or do they adjust the print runs so that instead of 99, 49, 25, 10, 5, 1 for each player it's something like 25, 12, 7 ,3, 2, 1

I think the will is there...the way is just cost prohibitive.

I know I am throwing grief Topps way for not making this card, and that they have a valid reason for not being able to. Still, this is the whole reason for this type of set's existence, to capture moments like that. That is mostly why I am disappointed in the final decision to not make that card.

I was told that all the cards are made, after that it's fuzzy...most are signed already and waiting for allocation. They are randomized given out and then the remainder are destroyed after a time (the last part there <--- is fact)....even if it's the 1/1

This is very interesting. Can you ask Jeeves if they will clarify in the print runs the amount of auto sets sold AND regular sets sold? In the past, they have just much lumped them together by team. For the sake of being transparent I hope they provide us the actual number of auto sets sold by team so everyone has an understanding of what’s out there.

Can you imagine them destorying a Judge auto if the Yankees don't sell out after what I presume they had to pay him?

Ugh - very disappointed. My Russell Wilson /49 arrived today and the bottom left corner is badly damaged. I'm okay with a few bumps and dents and have never complained to the Topps Now team about condition before (even when probably warranted), but this is a PC card and the corner is super bent.

Sent an email to general customer service email... but if any of you Platinums don't mind hitting up Jeeves for me, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Well for better or worse, my GF surprised me with tickets for Sunday's Angels vs A's game. I guess Ohtani's debut Now cards are in my future. LOL.

Mine was bad too, but was limited to the signature - it literally looks like he had a stroke while signing mine, but pretty sure Topps would tell me to pound sand so I haven't even tried to follow up. I DO think they will address your issue and I'll just take mine as a lesson to stop buying from Topps and just get autos on the secondary market!

Sorry that happened to you, esp on one you wanted for your PC.

That’s bad. No other way to say it. I’m having trouble conjuring up how that got damaged in transit, as opposed to being like that before going into the one touch. And if it was like that before, c’mon. Any quality control?

I don’t get how a company with a division that sells costly auto cards to serious collectors can seemingly care so little about the condition in which those cards arrive to customers. It’s not like this is the only issue in that regard. I know they can’t be perfect, but stuff like this just begs a lot of questions.

I think their whole BGS/PSA 8 standard for acknowledging an issue is b.s. to begin with, but fwiw, I don’t think that’s an 8 as badly as that is bent.

Hopefully they will be responsive and make it right.

I had a couple autographs that are nearly non-existent. Especially my GSP signed card after his UFC win. That was also PC. The ones I saw online were equally bad so didn't say anything.

I understand that that can happen and not really in Topps control. Remember the Benny auto fiasco? Too soon?

No chance this happened in transit. Was well placed in the magcase, even though the magcases they use sometimes (like this one) are not the best and can crimp and edge if put in wrong, that's not what happened here. Was just sent a damaged card. We'll see how it goes... Unless they got a few extras that they held back, I doubt they have any future signings with Wilson to get it remade. Very unfortunate.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, but feel kind of hypocritical/generally crappy being like that, as I know I as a collector/buyer benefit greatly from many of the super-buyers on here taking those purchasing risks. I admit I’m a total moocher in that regard.

But my genuine, big concern with pre-ordering these autos is how streaky so many of them are. There are a fair number of TN autos that can’t really be auto graded bc they would get 9s or below, which for a lot of collectors (including me) makes that card worth probably less than a raw.

I guess they can’t police them all, sig by sig, but some of them are awful. Lots of Trout TN autos are particularly bad, from what I’ve seen lately paying more attention to the auto cards than I ever did before.

David Ortiz is another good example of this. They are all very streaky and will probably be invisible in 3 years. It's sad. Very difficult to find a good auto among the bunch on ebay. This would make me very hesitant to buy any TN auto directly from Topps.

Just for laughs - here's my GSP "autograph" that I decided wasn't worth the fight.

What a beauty!

They did this last year...but they are not going to tell us what was destroyed or never signed
