Hey there Brady,

Thanks for the info.

So my question specifically is: Can I have ebay sellers send their cards to the COMC US location and get Free shipping there. Then I essentially want COMC to hold my 'x' amount of cards in there and send to be in Vancouver from BC to mitigate the US shipping cost.

Unclear about this part. Less about the selling.

Thank you again

yes, you can use your comc mailbox for US shipping. as mentioned before, there is a minimum number of cards or else comc will add an extra fee for processing. i don't remember what it was or if it changed since i last used it.

from comc, they will ship directly to you and not to the BC location. so any potential savings you mentioned will not be possible. if you let your mail stash grow to a good amount of cards, the shipping isn't all that bad.

This might be my most ridiculous COMC experience yet.... I emailed them at 2pm EST and inquired about my submission that was supposed to be loaded on Oct 13. I told them I missed out on selling them on Black Friday and wanted to know if they had an ETA.

There were 110 cards left in my submission. 1.5 hours later, my entire submission has been loaded to my account.

So making my first submission in YEARS to COMC. Any recommendations on how to ship them best?

I kept thinking I needed a list of the cards but maybe that is how it was years ago. I could be way wrong on that. Looks like I can just say the amount of cards in shipping and that’s it. Trying to do all that I can so I don’t slow down the process once it gets there.

Anyway, I’m sending a box of 200 and placing that box inside of a bigger box to protect it. Nothing over $100 but a few in the $25-50 range. Recommend placing them in toploaders or just place them in the middle of the other cards to protect them? Hate paying extra fees for toploaders but it may be best...not sure. Thoughts?

Penny sleeves inside team bags. No need to make a list. Leave some space on the side to put some filler (crumpled up paper) so that the entire box isn't tough to get cards out of. There was a time when they seemed to be dropping orders, and ones that were tightly packed all in penny sleeves seemed to spring out of the box the most. For vintage or lower value ones, I don't even penny sleeve them.
If you put the higher valued ones in toploaders, they now charge 50 cents each to dispose of them for you at the lower service levels.

@tommyfro - one thing that is different now than in the old days is that they tend to process submissions in clumps. Because of social distancing mandates, they appear to be processing a lot of stuff off site. So if you send in 200 cards, they might process a few in a few days after the submission arrives. But they might miss the deadline on the 200 cards, maybe processing 100 of them before the deadline.

Once an item is late, they tend to take their sweet time processing it. So, while it isn't strictly necessary to have a list, you might want to fan the (sleeved) cards out on a table and take pics of the batch, so you can identify the stragglers later.

I still randomly get a card here or a card there added to my account, from batches which were originally submitted in March and which were originally due to be processed in May.

Another thing which is different is that they now do eBay auctions. If you have a few cards which are likely to go for $50 and up, you might submit them to auction. They don't charge up front, but they charge more on the back end (I think $3.95 or 15%, whichever is more). The advantage is that they are likely to process and sell these much sooner than if submitted as regular cards.

Another change is that they now charge extra for "obscure" cards (I forget the terminology). Basically, if a card is foreign language or if they have to spend more than a few seconds figuring out what set or year it is from, they'll charge an extra 50 cents.

Another change is that they now will process all (legal) cards submitted, regardless of condition. They will assign non-mint cards into buckets, the way they used to do for vintage.

Also, they have a real bee in their butt about "trimmed" cards, and also anything which might have a Confederate flag or German Military Uniform from WWII (including things like Raiders of the Lost Ark cards, SGT Fury comic books, Civil War News, Dukes of Hazzard).

At present they are still accepting Washington Redskins and Cleveland Indians cards (even if they have Big Chief Wahoo). But how long?

Thanks for the info. I’ve got some cheaper cards that I debated on whether I would even sleeve them or not but I will definitely use the team bags. Hadn’t thought about doing that.

Good advice on taking pics. I probably wouldn’t remember which ones I sent with that many so I’ll be sure to do that. It’s crazy that I’ve shopped on there for years but haven’t submitted since about 2012 or so.

The more I thought about taking pics of so many low-end cards, packing them, and shipping them, it seemed like a no-brainer for me to let them handle all of that for a few cents more per card. I’m growing tired of eBay but will likely use it and Instagram to move my high-end cards and send all of my low-end to COMC from now on.

One thing I wish COMC had was an app. Does anyone know if they will be creating a COMC app anytime soon?

I doubt anytime soon. I think they are holding off on an app until they finish the site reformat so they can work in new functions/features/formatting. Tim G. said in a video interview that he has one developed (probably just for simple buying) but currently only uses it for himself.

That’s too bad because it would be very nice to have a comc app to use.

Their site works just fine on mobile. What would an app provide that’s different?

How do non sports cards as a whole sell/do on comc? Are they worth putting on the site?

Autos and relics seem to sell fine for me. I've sold sketches as well

Non-Sports sells OK, but not great. One bit of weirdness is that Non-Sports sells better on eBay than on the native site, but eBay has some bizarre rule that you can't list multiple item "choice" listings in the category where Non-Sports goes. So, while Sports Cards might have up to 10 copies cross-posted to eBay, Non-Sports can only have one. And since the COMC bot sends stuff to eBay it thinks is likely to sell, Non-Sports often get passed over for sports. And even if you have a copy of a card which is being cross-posted, it might not be your copy that is posted.

Yes, you can. Go to "My Dashboard", then click "Auctions Won" on the left sidebar and the site will walk you through it.

You also pay the 10% "cash out fee" when you pay for eBay auctions won

That only applies if you use your store credit to pay - if you use paypal then you won't pay that 10% fee.

So I have accumulated over $1600 in COMC

I am thinking of requesting a check to save the $50ish in paypal fees.

How long does a check take usually?

You don’t get hit with fees if paid by PayPal. It is a gift payment.
