Of course I’m going to get extremely mad for being mentioned in this thread I have nothing to do with. Not to mention you making false assumptions. Again please elaborate to why I have to mention anything on the forums with what I do with my cards, it’s my business and not yours or anybody else’s! So I’m in the wrong for collecting exquisite cards which makes up to 90% of my collection and when I want to sell something it’s hard to imagine it’s a high end exquisite card?

Abra -- thank you for the summary of the thread so far! If you don't mind, I'd like to make a simplified version just regarding 87/99, starting with Eric's first post.
  1. Eric posts that he purchased 87/99 in 2014 raw as a part of a larger collection and had it graded promptly. The implication here is that it must have already been trimmed when Eric purchased it. Eric refuses to commit to any future plans for the card.
  2. Then we discover that 87/99 was actually graded in 2015, not promptly as Eric had claimed.
  3. I speak to Eric on the phone where he mentions buying his first Lebron in 2013 for 14k. He says he bought the card individually, not as a part of a collection. He does not mention what the serial numbering was on the card he purchased. He also says on the phone that he’s not 100% convinced his lebrons are trimmed, despite the mounting evidence. He also shows no interest in trying to figure out who trimmed the cards.
  4. Buybuy reveals that Eric had 87/99 listed on his site raw and untrimmed in 2013.
  5. Someone discovers that 87/99 sold in 2013 for 14k on ebay. At this point, we already know Eric purchased a lebron for 14k in 2013 (altho we don’t know the serial #) and that he had 87/99 listed on his site in 2013. With the new information that 87/99 sold for 14k in 2013, it seems all but certain he was the winner of that auction.

Ergo, 87/99 was actually the first lebron Eric purchased. He purchased it raw and untrimmed for 14k off ebay in 2013 and had it listed on his site in 2013. Sometime after that, Eric or a friend had the card altered and slabbed successfully in 2015. Eric has owned the card ever since.

At this point, Eric has seemingly lied about when he bought the card, how he bought the card, and what he did with the card after purchasing it. He has also shown no interest in trying to find out who trimmed the cards and has been unwilling to commit to the ethical course of action regarding their future...

Did I miss anything?

So in brief summary, one can be exonerated if they meet one of the following criteria:

- Uses early 19th century Christian colloquialisms such as 'dog nabbit!' instead of f#%^ expletives

- Is generally a good guy that has many online friends that can vouch for them

- has many transactions with fellow members without issue

- has a pleasant and friendly demeanor on the phone

Let's not forget, Adam himself admitted that Eric currently has a particular card that he still wants. At least that's one verifiable part he's not trying to hide.

see, that rubbed me the wrong way, when he said that BNC would allow him to return it (a graded card) after he inspected it, if Adam felt it was compromised

We're just kinda going in circles here because I already explained to you that who you are and what your reputation is doesn't mean anything to me, nor does it have anything to do with me saying "Hey this guy is selling exquisites on instagram and not on blowout that's kinda suspect"

You'll dump your cards to China and get your money and none of this will matter in like a month. Just stop posting.

He's definitely got some (most likely a lot) to gain by protecting Eric. The question is exactly how much, and for how long this has been going on.

Could they even (in some minute possibility in the range of expectation that's followed this thread) be business partners?

Based on his almost identical defensive replies in the Starman thread, this well may go pretty deep.

Awesome. Thanks for posting this, I actually went back and made a small edit to my summary, changed 2016 to 2014 as I had made an error in the date that BNC claimed to have acquired 87/99.

To borrow from one of your earlier posts, I'd say the buybuyMJ contribution is the nail in the coffin and your summary looks good. Reading about your conversation with him was also particularly disturbing and damning because he was basically trying to dodge everything he could with deflections left and right. If I remember correctly, there was a part about him saying he would consult other experts and determine the right way to do things at the time of a hypothetical sale...that's very telling about his character.

Yeah I think it's pretty simple now. Card is trimmed 100% so list it accordingly. Only way to handle it correctly. If not, that's wrong.

Oh don't worry, he will consult experts and determine the best way to sell...in other words, I'm not going to disclose anything unless I have to...so I won't.

Unless there’s actual evidence of anyone outside of Eric trimming these cards, people’s name (and ultimately reputation) need to be left out. It’s easy to blindly accuse someone of wrong doing without evidence. Imagine being on the other foot, minding your own business, and then be falsely accused of doing something only to have your reputation tarnished.

For the record, I’m not talking about BNC. He deserves all the criticism he’s receiving. If I were in bballcards4days’s position, I’d have reacted in a similar fashion. Your reputation is all you have.

Yeah that's exactly what I get out of his statements in conversations with ppl here. It's insulting to the intelligence of the forum.

I think we all have a moral obligation to mention suspect behavior, just like I thought it was kinda weird when you jumped to Eric’s defense when he was asked about the original grader of a card when this thread was fairly new, the most bland and boring question imaginable. But I’m sure you’ve never really dealt with him before right?

I’m only twisting the knife here because you’re extremely bad at letting this just roll off your back, and because in the same sentence you literally called me an internet thug hiding behind a monitor and that you’d kick my ass. And I’m the joke?

Where the did I jump to anybody’s defense? Again where is this suspect behavior you are mentioning? And thanks for the pic I know he didn’t grade that card because another member on here graded it and sold it.....

I also think it's important to stay on task and not get derailed with petty squabbles. If I were the person who trimmed these cards, I would be praying the people in this thread turn on each other instead of me.

Don't be like those orcs who turned to stone in The Hobbit. Keep your eye on the task at hand.
