First Buzz: 2020 Topps Chrome baseball cards

Posted on the break section last night but got 8 blasters via Topps last week. I've had other wax sitting around that I haven't touched but couldn't help myself with the Chrome. I told myself "only one" but it was like chips ... once I opened my first pack in nearly 20 years, there was no going back.

I need to sort through everything tonight but got 3 autos (Luzardo, Cease, & Lewis), 2 1985 Robert RC's, & a host of other stuff. Would love to go for the set but I don't have time to camp out for 6 hours in a Walmart or Target.

Ditto, that smell is somethin else! Such an odd but satisfying scent. Funny that my buddy and I were just talking about this the other night when we were opening some Chrome.

I checked a few Walmart and Target stores today and got lucky at one. Got 3 hangers and 7 value packs and have already opened them all. Topps Chrome always is fun for me to open, even though I really didn’t hit much.

I hit these all of these in one hanger. The Lewis,Lux, and Robert were all back to back to back in the same pack.

I did hit a nice Mookie and a few rookies and a few Cubs cards that I liked.

Was hoping to find monster boxes today but with the chronicles crowd out and about they scooped everything up, so probably gunna buy a couple off eBay since they’re only $15-25 more than MSRP not bad

this might have been discussed already, but is anyone else coming across almost every single 1985 insert being horribly off center? I busted 8 value packs today and nearly every 1985 insert I pulled was off centered left to right pretty badly

After nearly a full day of hunting, the Chronicles vultures finally left me 4 value packs of Chrome BB at my last store. I'm going to frame them as a hunting prize. LOL

you still have your 396 mosaic blasters as your trophy though haha

Opened 10 blasters, got 0 base of Robert, Lux, Bichette, or Lewis. No autos, no color, by far the best card was a Bo Bichette Sepia. Worst retail break for me in a long time.

Edit: I did get 4 negative refractors though, which was cool since they are supposed to be like one in 86 packs, and got 4 of them in 70 packs.

About 3/4 through my retail haul...16 hangers, 12 cellos, and 4 blasters...I haven’t pulled any autos and only one numbered card, a Garterol RC /250. Was beginning to lose hope but just pulled my second #ed card, Tatis green SP /99. That felt good. Hoping for one more nice hit!

0-3 today on the trip to the Big City for some esoteric saw parts. one Tar-jhey and one Wally World, both held decent quantities of 2020 Heritage and almost nothing else baseball. haven't seen Heritage in a while anywhere else, but was hoping for a stray pack or 2 of Big League, the product made for the kids.

3rd store was actually my little ole hometown on the way back in; restock day. I can tell the rep was there because the amount of Panini Football keeps increasing every time. 3 sets out now. No empty slots in their displays, ever.

another empty display box of Chrome, almost no other Baseball - except one thing, again - Meijers Series 2 single pack blister packs with 1 purple card

so I grabbed 3 and left 10 or so. this is the 3rd time I have picked up a few of these to rip when they were the only 2020 baseball card in the store.

yet they do go for about double retail price on ebay so I'm thinking there is no flipper crew cleaning out my store, just rabid baseball card collectors - maybe - but doesn't quite explain why all other pack formats and products just disappear instantaneously.

all I want for Christmas is a 2020 Topps Chrome 'cello'

I busted 18 and still have the rest for now. But, I am planning on taking some profits given how insane this market is right now and I may go ahead and sell them along with my Prizm and Optic megas/blasters. But I'm certainly going to keep holding the better stuff like the sealed cases and the Fanatics boxes/sets.

I don't know how long this bubble is going to continue and given how much stuff is up, I feel it would be crazy not to sell some of my stuff. I also don't have insurance on my stuff so probably another reason to at least take some off the table.

Would love to try and just build it back up again but obviously going to be hard to replicate in the current environment. Mostly just going to have to hope to get lucky on another initial Target drop.

Yeah, half to two thirds of mine are off center left to right, including my Luis Robert. Of course the multiple Altuves I pulled are centered.

Yes, those 1985 are either OC top/bottom or left/right almost 75% of mine, pulled a few nice ones but gotta get lucky
