Maybe slightly but will pick right back up again after the season in anticipation of him signing with a contender going into next season. Ohtani will defy the whole " Prices drop during the off season " theory.

I don't think so, not as long as he continues at MVP pace. I feel only way they go down is if he gets into a significant slump or injury.

For the Ohtani experts, in terms of 2018 on-card Ohtani rookie autographs, where do the different brands rank in terms of desirability?

At the top is Bowman, Bowman Chrome, Topps Chrome, Sapphire, and probably Heritage low.

Next tier would be like Finest, Heritage High, Transcendent, bowman's best, maybe high end Topps like dynasty, diamond icons, luminaries, Brooklyn, maybe some high end Panini like Flawless and NT

Then you got Optic and the rest of Topps offerings like GQ, Tek, TTT, Tier One, A&G, Topps Now, Spectra, Immaculate, Stadium Club

Lowest tier would be unlicensed stuff like Leaf, DK, but UD autos seem to do slightly better

Something like that just off the top of my head, there's probably more brands I missed.

Very good list. Bowman is king no matter how you spin it. TC and finest were tending similarly, but the former has pulled away in the last year or so.

Only other note I would make is that Heritage High Gems (and gem only) should be bumped to first tier. They are just such tough cards to grade with only 7 PSA 10s between red/blue inks. People are starting to realize and pay for those (BGS or PSA).

My only quibble would be putting Brooklyn in Tier 2. To me, Stadium Club and some of the other Tier 3 offerings you mention would be above Brooklyn but maybe I just don't understand the appreciation Sho collectors or hobbyists in general have for Brooklyn.

On another note, this just popped for me from PSA. I guess PSA and I disagree on what an Ex/MT card is lol. I looked at the pop report and there are 3 6's including mine, a 7, a 7.5 and an 8 with none higher. A tough card to grade! I think BGS has graded 3, all in the 7 to 8.5 range. So 9 total graded, and my guess is there are more of these than the average Sho Rookie auto in the wild percentage wise due to the tough black '71 borders.

I'd say the Archives Fan Favorites auto is firmly in Tier 3, yall agree?

Thanks man! If there was a verified Shohei Indent I'd be over the moon, but maaaan I looked over that card so much. The surface was immaculate to me, but the corners were touched white and one of the edges was a little rough. That's it. I thought a 7 at least and was hoping for an 8. Guess I could've missed something but it's doubtful.

I got a large Desert Shield order that popped as well a few days later, and I was similarly puzzled. Went over a ton of cards with a loupe etc, like 134 went in the order. Was hoping for at least 10 10's, and maybe 70 9's with 30 8's and a smattering of other stuff. Nope. No 10's. Maybe 30 9's, maybe 60 8s and waaaay more 5s, 6s and 7s than I was prepared for. Again, maybe it was me but it definitely felt way off.

Agreed, my concern over the grade for this card is substantially less than most because of what we both understand, and I don't plan on selling the dang thing.

These also popped in the same sub as the Archives '71 Auto. Grades were as I guessed they would be - happy the Complete Set Variation gemmed, a little disappointed the Red Shirt got a 9 but thought that's where it would land. I was assuming a 9 on the BC Refractor, didn't let myself dream it would gem with that centering.

Love the eye appeal of all of these!

Those are some really nice cards, including the archives. The complete set retail is a tough gem with it being on the end and susceptible to dings and surface damage. Congrats!

And yes Stadium Club autos could be in a higher level. All those brands besides the highest and lowest tiers are pretty close and subject to bidding trends for pricing. Lately everything is going off so whatever you can afford to get is good
