It wasn't just the talent he had. He always seemed to make the right moves in game, he treated all of the players the same, he never fed BS to the media. etc.

Easy to make the right moves when you have a stable full of thoroughbreds. When Torre looks at his bench and it’s David Justice, Darryl Strawberry and Tim Raines it’s easy to look like a genius when his move leads to a pinch hit double. Who’s Boone have to send up in the 8th with one out guy on second?

Torre also didn't have an analytics team telling him what to do. They ran out pretty much the same lineup for 5+ years.

True and I firmly believe that is happening now. That said, a better team probably would have a more consistent order in the lineup.

Happy to see that you know that this team is not the fault of Boone.

Cashman is incapable of building a lineup. This team hasn't had a real leadoff hitter since I can't really remember. And I don't mean a stolen base threat just a guy who you pencil in everyday to be the leadoff hitter. Look at Braves and Dodgers, its not a question who is leading off.

I am 99% certain that the Yanks will sweep or win this series against KC. They'll show "signs of life" and the narrative will force itself in a more positive direction, and the front office will continue to operate as normal. Probably add an underwhelming piece or two in the next couple of weeks, Judge will be back for the Mets series, Nestor returns shortly after, and they will start to go into 'playoff mode' before you know it. Same thing will happen next year and the year after....

IF they lose this Royals series at home, may God have mercy on their souls.

Yeah if they look lifeless vs the Royals they should change the locks on Cashman's office.

Hasn't been the hottest in the northeast. Hasn't even really hit 90 that many days.

Is Yankees' potential plan to extend Harrison Bader becoming less of a reality?

He's only played over 100 games, mind you not 140, 100 3 times in his career. He should basically only be given a 1yr deal with a team option. Let someone else waste money locking him up long term.

Yes, lest he become Ellsbury and Hicks 2.0.

I'd give him a 2 year $10m (5 AAV) deal. GG OF defense is good enough for me. Anything more than that and I'm out.

The Bader love affair shows how bad this team is. I don’t know what war says but this guy would be lucky to be Brett Gardner and you’d think he was Willie Mays.

Here's your free agent outfield class. Who do you suggest they pursue to play center field and left field?

Quote:
Outfield: Harrison Bader, Cody Bellinger, Charlie Blackmon, Michael Brantley, Mark Canha (club option), Michael Conforto (opt-out), Adam Duvall, Joey Gallo, Randal Grichuk, Robbie Grossman, Teoscar Hernández, Max Kepler (club option), Kevin Kiermaier, Andrew McCutchen, Wil Myers, Joc Pederson, David Peralta, Tommy Pham, AJ Pollock, Jurickson Profar, Hunter Renfroe, Victor Robles (club option), Eddie Rosario (club option), Jorge Soler (opt-out), Michael A. Taylor, Jesse Winker

Oh and since some hated Benintendi so much and didn't want to re-sign him, if he was signed and playing left field for the Yankees this year, he'd have the second highest batting average after Judge; missing only 7 games this year.

Get me Kiermaier

resurgence in Toronto this year, 3 Gold Gloves, left handed bat

I know he's not a star or complete difference maker, but I think he'd be cheaper than Bader, and create more flexibility.

I'm ok with that. Bader is probably gonna get 4yrs. Too long.

Trevino out with a major wrist injury.

Austin Wells called up to AAA.
